FOA 2015 MEDIA: Deadspin

As is now an annual tradition, Deadspin brings the world a survey of the fabulous Football Outsiders Almanac 2015, with a paragraph from each of the 32 NFL chapters to give you a taste of the book if you haven't bought it yet. (And if you haven't bought it yet, why not? Sterling has tuition payments and Scott needs money for dinner.)

Kelvin Benjamin, Louis Delmas Tear ACLs

A couple of very unfortunate injuries today at practice: one predictable, one not. The latter would be Panthers wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin, who will now miss his second NFL season after tearing his ACL trying to cut on a pass route. I certainly don't need to explain to FO readers just how much the Panthers had a two-man passing game last year: Greg Olsen and Benjamin. This is a huge loss for the Panthers. Meanwhile, down in Miami, Louis Delmas tore his right ACL for the second time in nine months. The guy just can't stay healthy.

Philip Rivers Signs Four-Year Extension

Well, so much for those stories about Philip Rivers not wanting to follow the San Diego Chargers to Los Angeles if they decide to move. Rivers is locked in now after signing a new four-year extension that includes $65 million in guaranteed money. Rivers has been that rare animal, the somewhat quietly great quarterback. He's been in the DVOA and DYAR top 10 in seven of his nine years as a starter. On the other hand, we'll have to see if he's able to age as well as Peyton Manning and Tom Brady have. Rivers turns 34 near the end of the season and will be 38 when this contract ends.

FOA 2015 MEDIA: Dallas

More media appearances to promote Football Outsiders Almanac 2015! Here I am on 1310 The Ticket in Dallas. We spoke about the Cowboys in 2015, the Curse of 370, the rise of nickel and dime defensive personnel, and whether the strategies of infamous high school coach Kevin "never punts" Kelley would work in the NFL.

Geno Smith Out 6-10 Weeks with Broken Jaw

Can I make better jokes than the ones already going through your head? Geno Smith will be out 6-10 weeks after reserve linebacker IK Enemkpali (who has been cut) broke his jaw in a locker room fight this morning. Ryan Fitzpatrick becomes the Jets' starter now, at least for the first month of the season. I think the Jets may actually be a stronger wild-card contender with Fitzpatrick running the offense. Our projections love the Jets, but not because of their offense. The defense isn't affected by what happened today and frankly, Fitzpatrick is a better quarterback than Smith right now.

FOA 2015 MEDIA: Boston

Hey, let's start promoting Football Outsiders Almanac 2015! Here I am on WEEI in Boston with Christopher Price and Butch Stearns this past Sunday morning, talking about the book and the AFC East in 2015. If you can't enjoy the audio, have fun reading through WEEI's very wacky transcription program and its attempt to present the text of my appearance.
