Plus Lions bashing, Hilton babies, and that Odell Beckham catch, because so much can be said about a great catch that everyone has already seen and has already been overhyped as a human achievement on par with the moon landing.

For this week's SNF column for NBC Sports, I took a look at Dez Bryant. DeMarco Murray is getting most of the publicity because he has the stats, but Dez is still really, really good.

The NFL has announced that this week's Jets-Bills game will not be played Sunday due to nine zillion feet of snow in Buffalo. It will be moved, probably to Monday night and either to Detroit or Washington. Because if there's any town filled with Bills fans, it's Washington. And by "filled with Bills fans," I mean, "Tim Russert's kid."

When the Steelers released LeGarrette Blount this week, I said that Pittsburgh was the third team to give up on the running back in the last two years. Reader "RickD" disagreed with me, saying that New England had not given up on Blount, they had been outbid for his services. Well, chalk that one up to RickD, apparently. The Patriots resigned Blount right away when he became available, even with Jonas Gray coming off a great game.

Can't believe I missed this when Nate Silver threw it up last week, since it is one of my favorite subjects. I love to discuss expansion possibilities, and I feel bad for cities that don't get to have NFL football. But I also think the logistics of a London franchise would be awful. Silver here tries to estimate the NFL fan base of two dozen different possible expansion markets and points out what I think is mind-numbingly obvious. If you want to expand to another country, we happen to have two very nice countries directly to the north and south of us that already have larger established football fanbases.

Long article today by Richard Deitsch asking if advanced stats will ever be used on NFL broadcasts. Includes a lot of interview with me, since this question is a passion of mine. To summarize my feelings on the issue: 1) The goal is really not getting advanced stats onto game broadcasts, but rather to get commentators to understand the ideas behind those stats; 2) studio shows are a better place for advanced stats than broadcasts themselves; 3) I'm available.

LeGarrette Blount decided he didn't want to be on a team that wouldn't give him carries, and then the Pittsburgh Steelers decided they didn't want LeGarrette Blount.
As Le'Veon Bell was racking up 33 rushes against the Titans on Monday night, Blount didn't get a single carry, and he left the field during the fourth quarter. The Steelers then released Blount on Tuesday.
Blount has averaged 4.6 yards per carry in his career, so there's plenty of talent here, but now the Buccaneers, Patriots, and Steelers have all given up on him in the past two years. That's a bad sign.

Two teams have cut ties with veteran fantasy position players just months after signing them in free agency.
The Cleveland Browns have waived running back Ben Tate after signing him away from the Houston Texans. Tate was part of a three-man running rotation in Cleveland, but his 3.1 yards per carry and -20.0% DVOA were significantly worse than teammates Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West.
