This is the official, high-profile "I taught Joe Flacco" story, with video of me accosting him on Media Day. I want to thank Colin Kaepernick's math teacher for helping out.

Former Jets GM Tannenbaum Breaks Silence

I'll just leave this quote here: "Our thinking on that was Mark is only one of five quarterbacks in the history of pro football to win 30 or more games in his first three years. In the 2011 season he had scored 32 touchdowns, 26 throwing and six rushing. Like any contract we do, we thought it would be a win-win. Get cost certainty from a standpoint of we know what he’s going to cost and he gets the benefit of some security. Based on how we played this year, that’s a decision, as of now, that doesn’t look very good."

Mandatory Monday: Release the Hounds

This is one of those roundups of the craziness of Super Bowl week. Correction: it is MY roundup of the craziness of Super Bowl week, so it is rounder and upper than the others. Will drop an XP or two from New Orleans here this week.

The Manning Index (and The Brady Effect)

At the risk of starting another irrational Brady-Manning argument... This is an interesting post by Neil Paine over at Chase Stuart's site, looking at which quarterbacks have won more or less in the playoffs than what you would expect based on the Vegas line. It's great to call it the Manning Index because it has a Manning at the top and a Manning at the bottom. Also interesting is that Tom Brady isn't the only veteran quarterback who had a lot of playoff success early, and very little later in his career.

Brown and Rice: Callahan Sabotaged Super Bowl XXXVII

From @MilkmanDanimal on Twitter:

I suppose no chance of a "Tim Brown goes bats@$t crazy" XP for the sole purpose of watching Raiderjoe try to explain it all?

Oh, I don't see why not. Lord knows I don't get this story at all. As Mike Florio points out, why are Jerry Rice and Tim Brown complaining that Bill Callahan threw the ball too much?
