Utter the name “Logan Thomas” on Twitter and assign some positives to his game before the NFL Draft and the most likely responses coming your way were derision and confusion.

Yes, finally, I've got the 2013 game charting data put together and ready for download. You can purchase this data at the FO store for $25. Or, buy 2012 and 2013 together for $40 and save $10. For those who contributed to last year's game charting project, an e-mail is on the way soon so you can get your copy of the data. And the usual "looking for game charters in 2014" post will surely be up shortly.

We’re a nation sold on celebrity. It’s also one of our leading exports to the rest of the world. Like many of you, I was raised to venerate the famous. And like many of you, I gradually learned that celebrity is a state of being and not a human being. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that difference and slip into assumptions about what we think we know about the humans behind the media mask.

I can't, I won't, and I don't stop... promoting Football Outsiders Almanac 2014. Here's a very long appearance on the Advanced Football Analytics podcast hosted by Dave Collins. Among the subjects we cover: the decision to list "edge rushers" as their own position in this year's book, how we determine replacement level, the concept of "Platonic team quality," difficulties with the game charting project, and my hatred of illegal celebration penalties.

There were 24 illegal contact penalties in the first full week of the preseason. There were 37 in the entire 2013 regular season. Are we headed for a historic season in terms of flags thrown?

This week, Peter King looks at the Johnny Manziel circus in Cleveland, Tennessee's attempt to fix Jake Locker's accuracy, and all those flags from the first weekend of preseason football. Plus, lots of Football Outsiders-related stuff, including a plug for FOA 2014 plus Peter's travels with our former colleague Andy Benoit. It's milk-tastic!

Remember that episode of Star Trek TNG where Wesley created a warp bubble, and Dr. Crusher was trapped inside it, and the rest of the crew kept disappearing until it was just her and Picard on the Enterprise? And Picard was all like, "no biggie, we can pilot this starship ourselves?" But it was still creepy and spooky and a little desperate?
I can't say why I have been thinking about that episode a lot lately. I just have.
Anyway, here is a look back at the preseasons of some great rookie quarterbacks.

Talking about the Falcons of the last few years -- not as good as their record for a few years, then better than their record in 2013 -- with Mark Bradley of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Is Harris one of the league's top cover corners, or a product of the system in which he plays? Cian Fahey says the answer lies somewhere in the middle.
