In a move completely out of left field, the Eagles have reportedly traded Sam Bradford to the recently quarterback-needy Vikings for a 2017 first-round pick and 2018 fourth-round pick. The move was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.
It certainly seems like a hefty price tag to pay for Bradford, who has never posted an above-average and healthy season (at least if you put stock in DVOA, and if you're reading this, you surely do). This is especially true given that Bradford is ostensibly a one-year rental. However, given the structural damage Teddy Bridgewater suffered in addition to his torn ACL, perhaps the Vikings also see Bradford as insurance for 2017. Philadelphia has already paid out the entirety of Bradford's $11 million signing bonus, but Minnesota would still be on the hook for a $17 million cap hit if they keep Bradford through next season, per Spotrac. At the very least, if Bradford is competent, it's easy to imagine Rick Spielman picking up the quarterback's $4 million option in March.
Meanwhile, the Eagles somehow recouped more than they gave up for Bradford in the first place. Howie Roseman has now mostly restocked what Philly lost from its draft cupboard in trading up for Carson Wentz, who is now a step closer to taking the reins under center for good.

Bad breaking news coming out of Vikings practice today, as starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater went down with what was reported to be a non-contact left knee/leg injury. Mike Zimmer canceled practice 25 minutes in, soon after the injury happened, and Vikings players were cursing, slamming helmets, and praying for him before an ambulance arrived to take Bridgewater to the hospital. Zimmer is expected to have a press conference later this afternoon to give additional information. Updates to come as we know more.

What started as a preseason experiment is now an official lineup change: Trevor Siemian will be the starting quarterback for the Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos when they kick off the regular season on September 8 against Carolina.

In this week's Monday Morning Quarterback, Peter King naturally starts with a discussion about some backup quarterback and some before the game thing you may have heard about this weekend before looking at the effect of Tony Romo's back injury. Peter then talks with presumptive Denver Broncos starting quarterback about the effect of his ACL tear on his pre-draft process and his subsequent climb to presumptive starter for the defending Super Bowl champions. Also in this week's edition, Mr. King lists some of his favorite tidbits from Football Outsiders Almanac 2016.

We're two weeks away from the start of the regular season, and the Chargers still haven't signed third overall pick Joey Bosa. The problem seems to be a disagreement over offset language. Bosa wants the language that is generally put in all contracts for top-five picks; San Diego has never used such language, mostly because they haven't had a top-five pick in a few years. Today, the Chargers actually released a statement to the media detailing their position, I guess in an attempt to force Bosa to accede to their demands. They want everyone know how much money they are offering him.

This week: a bad coach gets paid, then insulted; a bad quarterback gets optimistic; another bad quarterbcak gets a cunning plan; a bad play gets Matt Ryan irked; a bad play gets burned; and Jets and Raiders fans get drunk.
