This thread is for discussion of action on the field before, during, and after Week 11 of the 2006 NFL season. You can talk about who you think will win or lose before the games start and last-minute news on Sunday morning. Then during the games, discuss strange plays, great performances, and stupid announcers (of which there are plenty). After the day is done, we'll discuss the results of the week Sunday night and Monday before our weekly commentary articles appear.
A separate thread will go up Sunday night for discussion during the Sunday and Monday night games.
Please ask your fantasy football start/bench and waiver wire questions in the discussion thread for Scramble for the Ball.
Word of Muth breaks down film of Alex Gibbs coaching and speaking over a cut-up tape. Find out the secrets of the man who's built big seasons for everyone from Terrell Davis to Warrick Dunn.

First. Let's try playing all 4 quarters this week, Carolina...
Not specifically about week 11, but this seemed like the most harmless place to ask a question of FO readers about the "NFL Field Pass" service for watching games over the net:
Does it work?
I can't find any information on it online easily except that it sucked in Week 2 and barely gets mentioned after that.
If anyone has any experience with it, I'd love to know. I live in New Zealand, and this is one of the few options I have if I want to see every (Cowboys) game.
NFL Games Broadcast Online (tv streams): Streamed NFL Blogspot
You might be able to get a decent feed for free from here.
#3: Hey, thanks a lot for that, will give it a try for Sunday's game and see how it goes.
and the IR games continue. . .

I do not know if this is true, but I believe free feeds are a violation of the NFL copyright agreement. By posting that information here, you may have just implicated FO as an accessory.
This is also not related to Week 11 games, but I had to post it somewhere.
Neil Best of NY Newsday has an interesting story today about NBC and ESPN and their approaches to game production.
The story of course mentions ESPN's practice of doing celebrity interviews during the games. ESPN producer Jay Rothman responds:
"If I fed you three and a half hours of down-to-down football, you would die. You're going somewhere else. You're not staying with me."
Sheeeeeesh....
Three and a half hours of down-to-down football. Yeah, who would want that??
Ugh.
I'm with you, #7. It's sad to read that ESPN's approach is the way it is. Give football fans some credit, for crying out loud.
What's wrong with that injury report?
Anyhow, Mike Reiss is reporting that both Samuel and Eugene Wilson have been downgraded to out. Bad news for the Patriots. It looks like they will be trotting out Ellis Hobbs and Chad Scott for CBs and Atrell Hawkins and James Sanders as safeties. What is it with the Patriots and injured defensive backs?
Re: #9
You beat me to it...
*sigh*
Looks like the Pats are going to be a reasonable bet to end up ofer-November, when the month is all said and done.
Pippin (#2) - I have been using Field Pass for three years and it's pretty good.
My 4:15 game on FOX today is the Lions Vs. Cardinals.
Wow.
Middle East TV from Cyprus is showing BAL-Atl and SF-Sea.
Here's the article discussed in #7. Has ESPN completely forgot who its audience is?
"I love football," [Jay Rothman, ESPN producer] said. "I just don't believe the masses watching the show want every play dissected for them. They're watching to be entertained and informed."
Adam, who's the announcer? If you're "lucky," one of them will be Bill Maas.
Adam,
The only way you can get that is by either living in Detroit or Arizona. CBS is showing everyone except for San Francisco and Seattle areas the huge IND-DAL game.
If Dallas pulls it off, NFC be scared!
Then the local paper must be wrong. And if it is...then thank god for that.
Who is the national Fox game at 4?
I'm sure this site has been posted before. Click my name.
The FOX national game at 4pm is SF-Seattle. You're probably getting that because you live in a market in which FOX is blacked out at 1pm, correct? (Pittsburgh?)
I know there is a "Extra Point" article on the possible change of guard in Miami - from Nick Saban to Steve Spurrier ...
As much i disagree with the ways of Nick Saban, i think the move to usher the SS era is as dumb as it can get - if that information is correct.
That's Miami U, not the Dolphins.
Bears @ Jets or Falcons @ Ravens, followed by Colts @ Cowboys or Lions @ Cardinals. (The late game's gonna be a really difficult choice).
Titans going with white shirts and sky blue pants today - if it weren't for the dark numbers on the jerseys and the Titan logo, they'd pass resemblence to the Houston Oilers, at least, the 1994 Houston Oilers.
Bengals on the board. First to 50 wins!
How does Braylon Edwards get so open underneath on 3rd down?
Frye sacked and fumbles; Steelers ball.
Lance Briggs is injured in the Bears game. Anyone see it? I am following on NFL scoreboard.
Stover misses from 42. Go Falcons.
Miami driving Ronnie Brown fumbles Vikings ball.
"Ronnie, if you want Brady Quinn rather than Joey as your QB next year, fumble this handoff".
Nick Saban to Ronnie Brown just prior to that bizzare fumble.
Well it looks like a long day for GB. Marquand Manuel is proving quite ineffective at safety.
Briggs just got some Field Turf in his eye and had to come out a play
26 - Something to do with his eye. He's back in.
Totally idiotic penalty on Anthony Smith.
Horrible penalty.
And by that, I mean that Smith is an idiot, not that it was a bad call.
David:
If you review any Packer related post from the beginning of the season you will find that the play of the safeties has been the sore point on the defense all season.
He and Nick Collins have undermined the defensive effort on a repeated basis.
Tyrone Culver must be pretty awful for Manuel to stay on the field. Manuel is slow and has no ball skills. He has been ABUSED in coverage all season.
But I am sure the "Audibles" on Monday will contain many a mocking comment on the Packer defense with Manuel the prime foil.
Ahman Green leg whipped but no call. Oh well.
Browns lose 8 on an end-around.
This playcalling guarantees a Patriot blowout. Favre never enters a game with accuracy. 15 years in the league and his nerves still get in the way.
Great, a week of Bill Simmons and Co. taking shots. Swell.
Ah well.......
Browns 44 yard FG attempt hits the crossbar- no good.
4 punts already in WAS-TB!? Avert your eyes!
Pippin (#2). I should have kept my mouth shut. Field Pass has shut down four times already since kickoff.
Is it safe to call Lee Evans ROBO-RECEIVER now?
Joe Horn is pretty good.
BTW, self promotion here, but I beat Tory James in the 100m in high school.
WOW. The Titans challenge of Westbrook's TD that puts the ball on the Titans' half yard line actually had a good outcome: McNabb gets intercepted on 3rd and goal.
Ugh. Holmes drops a 1st down catch.
Geez, pretty obvious hold on the Pats defensive back......
Will someone explain to me why GB is trying to wing the ball all over the place? Geez, I know the Pats have a good run defense but you can't just give up.
Sigh....
Sounds like good Vick today in Baltimore. 5 for 7 with a TD so far.
Haha...wtf?
M.Bryant kicks 65 yards from TB 30 to WAS 5. R.Cartwright pushed ob at WAS 31 for 26 yards (B.Adams). PENALTY on TB-M.Bryant, Unnecessary Roughness, 15 yards, enforced at WAS 31.
Majestic Mike is back! i had a feeling we would inexplicably show up for this game.
Holmes held onto one... but I was expecting to see Davenport returning.
Jason Campbell watch:
His first play was a perfectly thrown bomb to Brandon Lloyd, who had Barber beaten by a step. The ball went right through Lloyd's hands. He's now 2 of 6 for 29 yards with 1 sack. Game tied at 3.
Favre's accuracy just isn't there.
And now Rayner misses the field goal.
Gonna be a LOOOONNNGGGG day.....
And in the game I get to watch, one wonders why DeShaun Foster still has the starting RB job in Carolina. He just runs into the pile, into the pile, into the pile.
JP losman
8/8 209yds 2TD 0INT
Joey Harrington
11/12 105yds 0TD 0INT
The Jets are running at will on Chicago.
Has the world gone mad?
Pick 6 for the Browns. High pass got tipped by the receiver and into the hands of the Browns' defender.
The Bears run D is getting absolutely whipped today.
Where is the NE pass rush today? Not like they need it with the way GB's Offense has been playing.
3rd & Goal, Urlacher picks Pennington in the end zone.
Sean Morey for kick returner!!!!!!!!
Go Sean Morey!
Having seen the replay, Penningtons throw was not a good one. One reciever, surrounded by 3 defenders. Not smart.
lj smith dodges a pass, almost picked
Horsecollar tackle by Thomas Davis of Carolina on Stephen Jackson
Another pick for Ben...
The Bears and Jets got together before the game and agreed not to defend the run.
David:
The Green Bay offensive line is pretty solid at pass blocking. If you don't believe a Packer fan Michael David Smith has written several comments about their collective improvement.
But you are correct in that McCarthy's approach to the game today is awful. They keep going downfield.
Meanwhile, the Pats are willing to grind it out. Gee, what a concept.
Poppinga kills GB again in pass coverage. New England is just too smart a team not to exploit these obvious issues.
Poppinga/Manuel/Collins are just bad, bad, bad in coverage. Just terrible.
McNabb down! McNabb down!
If GB don't acquire a safety or two in the draft/FA next year, I think Badger will self-combust.
I don't know who reminded the offensive players of the Vikings that they are professional football players, but they've been actually able to move the ball so far today. The receivers have discovered how to use those strange things on the end of their arms.
McNabb hurt, there goes the season
New England has dominated this game. If B&B are looking to make a point this score could get real ugly. The Packer defense has no way to hide their pass defense issues, and the Green Bay coaching staff will now likely panic and take even more chances.
Which means turnovers. Which means runaway.
Sigh.......
Sigh...
McNabb is carted off the field
NE @ GB: The color guy rants and raves for a almost a full minute about how Vrabel should have a touchdown because he got both feet down, and somehow doesn't notice that his elbow landed waaaaay out of bounds long before he got his foot in.
Maybe next year for the state of Pennsylvania.
As always, IRC is open in channel #FO on server bendenweyr.dyndns.org.
Come and talk about how terrible my steelers are this year.
QB draw with Carson Palmer?
Bizarre. Obviously, Cincy's kicking a FG.
James:
Marviel Underwood was almost certain to grab the starting job away from Manuel. But he got hurt in pre-season and is out until next season. He looked to be an exciting talent though obviously error-prone.
The problem is two-fold. First, Schottenheimer MUST, MUST, MUST(!) be replaced. GB's secondary was ok last season with Collins as a rookie and a worse player then Manuel on the field. The GB secondary has routinely lost guys in coverage game after game with no improvement whatsoever. That is a lack of coaching. Period.
Two, Manuel has to be dumped by the side of the road at the end of the season. He's not an NFL caliber player.
Collins can be salvaged.
Anyone who has info, please update me on what happened with McNabb.
Somehow McCarthy has to realize that Brett didn't show up today. His accuracy has been terrible which I am sure I will read about ad nauseum in Monday's "Audibles".
3 & 2: Why is someone using a shotgun?
With Ahmad Green doing well this year, can they not just run down the middle
TMQ would have written "GAME OVER" in his notebook after this play
First one to score in the Bears game wins!
No word yet on McNabb, but he wasn't able to put any weight on his right leg...bad sign. Sigh. Hope he is okay.
BTW, in the Reggie Watch, he's currently 6 carries for 31 yards.
They just showed the McNabb injury as a gamebreak in WAS-TB. Looked like a fairly ordinary roll-right. McNabb carried the ball out of bounds and took a bit of a tumble on the sideline. Wasn't much contact at all.
Time for the Jeff Garcia era in Philly...avert your eyes!
Post 83:
The GB offensive line rarely has been able to generate a push on short yardage. Still, this shotgun nonsense on that down and distance is dumb.
I really do not understand the approach today.
BTW, the Dillon injury might be a positive for the Pats. Maroney is the better player.
Browns' FG, 10-0.
Ugly in Baltimore: 4 plays between the Baltimore 5 and 10, interspersed with two offsides and a defensive hold
Copper fumbles yet again.
3 false starts on this drive by Baltimore, all on their own ten yard line.
calig-
for those of us who can't watch, has Ben been as bad as his numbers? You said the first pick was a tip. The second?
Yet another offsides on the Baltimore OL...the lineman just stood up?
thanks mcnabb, way to stay in shape that a simple roll out injures you. there goes my fantasy year.
Will the saints please give Copper the Tiki Barber ball protection talk.
What? "Bill Cowher never lays down at the end of a half."
Did he not watch the Falcons game?
Bears dodge a bullet. Thomas Jones fumbles on his own 28, and the Bears challenge and win, although the replay was marginal. The Bears get it back and are able to punt away.
WTF?????!!!
Another pick 6???
Flags on the play, though..
And Carolina is eating Bulger alive.
Jets get screwed on a challenge overturning a definate fumble. It makes you wonder exactly what the hell the ref was looking at.
96: I'm about to go back home and knock some sense into young Terrance. Payton should be furious.
And now Reggie's limping off the field. First Colston got hurt and now Reggie. Dammit.
Favre hasn't thrown a pick but his throws are way off. He keeps missing open recievers.
Eagles keep dropping interceptions, they're going to need a defensive touchdown or two to win this...
Will Vince Young be a better Vick than Michael is?
He looks good running on broken plays. I was gonna say he looks like he is throwing with touch, but he just threw one right to Lito, but dropped.
Just a brutal day by Favre. Tanier is going to have a field day taking potshots.
Just a matter of time before the interceptions come.
Rats....
Browns seriously cheap shot Ben multiple times on this play.
Steve Smith burns St Loius .. life is the same
Foster's out with an elbow injury in Carolina...getting X-rays...meanwhile Steve Smith bails out Delhomme yet again, with the help of just a little push off the DB.
Just give the ball to Westbrook and things will be fine...Just give the ball to Westbrook and things will be fine...
I think it's time for Polamalu to spike Charlie Frye, Terry Bradshaw style. This is an ugly game in a lot of different ways.
Browns delay of game penalty will take them out of FG range. Oops.
28 yards total offense for the Rams so far.
R Grossman - 4/8 for 5 Yds!
Wow, the Bears coaching staff need to monitor which side of bed he wakes up on game day.
This inconsistency is maddening, at best!
Caldwell ridiculously wide open for 54 yards and a touchdown. 21-0 New England.
Game. Set. Match.
Browns come thiiiissss close to catching the Hail Mary in the endzone.
Manuel got destroyed by Caldwell on that TD. Green Bay has some issues, to say the least.
atlast, the Pats have a 50+ yd passing play ...
.... wish we played the Packers a long time ago, this season!
Manuel had him and turned outside while Caldwell went inside. This sh*t has been going on since game 1 with no improvement.
I give the coaching staff credit for improving the offensive line and integrating some young players into the lineup.
But the secondary has REGRESSED. And nobody is hurt. It's just plain sad.
And now Copper is holding the ball like it's his first born child. Good on him. I want this kid to succeed, and once he gets his confidence back, he'll be pretty good. BTW, That Bush kid is back in the game after tweaking his ankle, but Colston is still out.
I shouldn't be worried now, but every time Brees gets hit, I'm scared about his shoulder.
Big catch by Devery Henderson, who I wisely benched this week. Last time I considered playing him, it was the Tampa game where he had 100+ yards and a couple of TDs.
And Reggie should have gotten out of bounds.
Posts 117 and 118 are mild compared to what I expect in the Audibles come Monday.
Green Bay has played better of late. But each game hinges on Favre playing well. And when he doesn't......well, you can see the results.
I wonder how many will be suggesting that Favre be benched in the comments on Monday?
My guess is the over/under at six.
Brees has two INTs in the endzone today. WTF, Drew? WTF?
Bears & Jets are 0-0 at the half. We've had 11 Possessions, resulting in 9 punts, 1 INT and the end of the half. It's a bit different from last week.
New England easing up a little.
And the Patriots turn it up a notch and get the sack.
Not surprising. It's a mismatch today. Here's hoping McCarthy is paying attention on the nature of the gap that still exists between his team and real NFL teams.
122: Maybe he caught Redzone-int-itis from Big Ben last week in Pittsburgh, while he was in remission.
Air just fumbled for the Ravens. Not good.
I hate the Falcons and I want them to lose.
Favre out due to injury.
Well, the Favre bashers get their wish with Rodgers into the game.
Big Raven punt return at the end of the half sets up some sort of score; 30 seconds and no time outs left from the 14.
Who would have guessed that highest scoring game so far is Buffalo-Houston?
Or that the Raiders would be leading the Chiefs?
But McNair fumbles the snap! Falcons ball!
the falcons will win today, saints will lose, equilibrium will return.
let's see AIR BOLLER!!!!
Ronnie Brown has 7 rushes for -8 yards and a fumble.
We're all professionals here, as TMQ would say.
125: That must be it. Now, the Saints can not lose this game, because I'm not in town. Every time I've been home in NOLA, the Saints have lost this season. So I'm avoiding the city until Mardi Gras.
Now, I wonder which game will be played in Hell's Sports Bar. Chicago/Jets?
miami -13 yds rushing 1st half. pathetic
So, I have 4 QBs on my fantasy team- McNabb, Favre, McNair, and Big Ben.
I chose to start McNabb and Favre.
McNabb threw a pick, and then left with an injury.
Favre has been completely ineffective, and now has left with an injury.
Ben has tossed 3 picks.
McNair has passed okay, but lost a fumble.
I guess I was going to be screwed no matter what I did.
Favre is injured - Anyone know what happened?
Morey has another solid kickoff return.
The Steelers have a franchise QB and surrounded him by the worst group of Wide Recievers in the NFL.
Exciting.
Aaron:
He was sacked and when rolled to the ground caught his wrist underneath his body.
I doubt he is coming back. This game is toast anyway so why risk compounding the injury?
Though I am sure many will inform me that Favre sucks anyway so what's the loss?
Exactly the way I didn't want this game to go. After trying to tell people that McCarthy/Favre had made progress they combine to stink up the joint.
Are the Pats a good team? ABSOLUTELY. But it isn't NE causing Favre to overthrow open receivers. And it isn't Favre calling plays from the shotgun 80% of the time and giving up on the running game.
The Falcons now have 3 fumble recoveries at the end of the first half this season, two with no time on the clock, and today's which left just enough time for a kneel-down.
Re:#139
Eh, more like the worst pass-blocking O-line in the NFL.
Favre was sacked and fell with his throwing arm under the ball, which was under his body. It looked like an elbow or wrist injury, maybe.
That too. But the recievers aren't much better.
139: Steelers - Hines Ward is a future HoF candidate, Holmes is a first round draftee.
I guess the difference in class between Big Ben and Brady has been underlined by the WR corps they possess this year.
Titans get first down inside the Eagle 30 with the play whistled dead with :50. Titans finally snap the ball at :28.
Two minute offense just like you might expect from a 9 yr old midget team. Pitiful.
How can you let 22 seconds run off the clock before snapping the ball?
Yay for the Steelers' 3rd down defense...
NYJ start the 2nd half with an onside kick, which the Bear recover. 3 plays later, the Bears have 2nd & Goal at the 6.
Why?
Can someone give a report as to how good Jason Campbell looked in the first half of the WAS-Tb game?
my fantasy team has McNabb and Colston on it....
my back-up QB is Favre.
Great day for me...
The future hall of famer is directly responsible for one of those INT's and taking points off the board for the Steelers.
Sounds like Demorrio Williams is having a good game for Atlanta.
The karma police are out for you Colston abusers today.
131: Dem's fightin' words.
Next Sunday will be fun.
Favre has an elbow injury. Not likely to return.
Big kickoff return to start the second half for Carolina...coming back because of a hold.
Meanwhile, Mark Clayton goes over the top of Allen Rossum...sigh.
yeah, next week's game is gonna be EPIC. could decide the season!
The Steelers' offense this year has been either completely unstoppable(KC, Atl, and NO), or completely ineffective.
Today, it's ineffective.
Atlanta defense holds inside the 10; Ravens try a 29 yard FG ; 7-3 Atlanta.
Browns RB fumbles after a nice gain; Steelers ball.
Campbell looked OK in the first half of the Redskins game, and he is looking great in the 3rd quarter. 4/6 for 45 yards and a touchdown on his first drive of the second half.
Even his incompletions are beautiful throws. Sometimes the receivers just aren't quite staying in bounds and they're dropping passes and doing all the usual dumb stuff that Lloyd and Randle El tend to do.
I've been living in exile in the ATL for a few years now, and the Saints/Falcons game is always the highlight of my autumn.
Of course, now that Tech should be UGA on Saturday, I should have a good sports weekend for a change after the Saints whip up on the Falcons. :)
Best defensive weapon the Falcons have is that McNair is the QB for the opponent. His last 2 red zone efforts were just horrendous.
In fact, he fumbled the ball away again on that sack, but the ball was trapped between the tackler and him until it slipped free when he fell to the ground. By then the whistle had blown, but the ball was out of his hand as soon as he was hit.
Hampton with a beautiful strip on that play.
Copper's having a bad day, but you can see that he has the ability. C'mon, son. Step it up.
And Drew gets sacked. Why is there more scoring in the Buffalo/Houston game than in the Saints/Sinners game?
Pennington with a fadeaway jumpshot as he was about to be crunched by Alex Brown, intercepted by Vasher, ending the Jets threat. Terrible pass.
Rodgers in for Favre.
And completes a pass for a first down. The THIRD first down of the game for Green Bay.
Yes, that is correct. 3....
Reed's FG goes off the upright, but good. 10-3.
Nice effin return by Sams.
oh god bj sams.
Any Steve Hutchinson or Lecharles Bentley type free agents on the free agent market this off-season?
Pennington throws another poor pick. Rolling left and under pressure, Pennington throws back across the field, to no-one in particular and Vasher made the INT. It's only because Grossman is 5/12 for 7yds that the Jets aren't dead.
As I write, Muhammed catches a jump ball for 28yds.
Another big punt return for BJ Sams
i'll be stoked if/when Tech beat UGA. i've always kinda had a disdain for the dawgs.
Maybe the Falcons should consider just punting out of bounds the next time, that's two long ones they've given up now.
4th and short for Baltimore...TO
Yeah, Tech's my #2 team behind the Mighty Green Wave. OK, we're mighty in baseball...
Back to NFL, end zone pick by the Saints. Great stop. We have to have the fan favorite linebacker corps...
McNair in the red zone again -- WR wide open on a slant, but Steve throws it low and behind so the WR has to go to the ground to make a tough catch and now the Ravens have to go for it on 4th and 1.
McNair is late getting the pass to Lewis, but Jamal makes the play for the first.
1st and goal at the 3 for the Ravens
Ike Taylor sucks.
atl's special teams are supposed to be based around kicking towards the sidelines anyway so i dunno wtf is up with that. baltimore does have some pretty awesome STs tho.
Brees is over 300 yards for the 4th straight game. Archie didn't do that.
And I should have started Devery. Dammit. Dammit. Dammit.
A picture of Ike Taylor in action.
http://tinyurl.com/yclney
Game over in Philly
No Colston sighting in the Saints game? Is he playing today or has he been shut down by the Bengal defense (!)
Ravens punch it home with Lewis from a spread set with Grady Jackson out of the game. 10-7 Ravens
Deuce is getting loose.
mare yet another missed fg. i don't think he'll be back next year.
185: Colston hurt his ankle in the first quarter. He has not returned.
re: 184
when they carted McNabb off the game was over.
Browns FG is good, 13-3.
I think Ike Taylor has become the opposite of Cris McCalister. McCalister is a pretty good corner, but always sucked against Ward and Burress.
Ike Taylor shuts down Chad Johnson every time they face each other, but he sucks against everyone else.
I'm going to need an explanation on this one.
KC ran a play, got a first down, no huddled and ran another play on which the refs threw a bunch of flags. This was the explanation word for word.
"Kansas City substituted on the last play. Oakland had 12 men on the field. Because of the substitution, there is no foul, we will replay first down". Then they canceled the play that had just ran, and re-ran first and ten.
What???????????????
189: Thanks
Davenpoop with a nice return, but penalty on the Steelers.
That Travis Henry guy is pretty good.
Imagine -- when he was in college his team had Jamal Lewis, Henry, Onterrio Smith and Travis Stephens at TB at the same time. Ron Dayne won the Heisman, but he would have been buried on the bench on that team.
Ben should look to this Miller kid more often.
Another near INT for Ben...
that was a lifetime achievement award in the form of a Heisman for Dayne.
I can't watch the Iggles game, what is McNabb's diagnosis?
how many 3rd down passes have the dolphin wrs dropped this year?
Vick has taken things into his own hands here...with some help from a Samari Rolle PI. First and goal at the Raven 5
Hehehehe. Davenpoop.
Cedrick Wilson, nice catch. But he pushed off.
Quite possibly the worst offensiv pass intereference call i've ever seen on Cedric Wilson.
And The Steelers make up for it by converting a 3rd and 20.
But still.....A horrific call.
Holmes with the 1st down catch on 3rd and 20.
Falcons settle for 3: 10 all in Baltimore
192:
The offense isn't allowed to substitute without allowing the defense to as well. I don't know how long they're required to wait before snapping the ball, but the play can't run with 12 defenders on the field, so they had to blow it dead and replay.
David Carr is 21/23. Wow.
Michael Vick needs some more work on his passing. Had Alge wide open for a short easy 5 yard toss and threw it too wide. Falcons have to settle for 3.
And Atl might want to kick OB every time.
TD for New England. Manuel beat again this time by Watson.
28-0.
B.J. Sams.
Bears just scored. Play by play lists it as a short pass but taken 57 yards for the TD - Anyone see it?
192:
No Huddle rules.
If you are running the no-huddle, and do not substitute, the defense is on their own. They can try and sub, but if they end up with 12 on the field it's a penalty.
However, if you *do* substitute, you are required to let them substitute as well. If you go no-huddle, sub, and catch them with 12 on the field, it's a no-play.
Willie Parker drops the dumpoff pass...
Sams with a big kickoff return now. Sigh again.
Well I guess the Eagles will get some decent draft picks again this year...
Game Over:
TEN over PHI
NE over GB
TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!!!!!!
HOLMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When Ben is on, he's on. Wow.
That Jamal Lewis guy is pretty good, too. Damn good quick feet.
TD Baltimore, Jamal Lewis on a 16-yard run.
208:
Michael Vick needs some more work on his passing.
This must be the FOMBUSY (Football Outsiders Message Board Understatement of the Year).
TD Baltimore as Jamal Lewis has a couple of nice runs.
211 - Little hook, whiffed tackle by the CB, and there was no safety back there.
wow what a goal line stand by the miami d. z. thomas just destroyed the fb on the lead block.
Leon Washington has just been blowing up Bears blitzers all day. A very solid blocker.
Yep, that's the Steelers.
Game over.
222,
Uh, yeah.
do football players understand that diving for a tackle does not work?
Forget this team. Forget them.
Call him Mr. Cribbs...
RE: 229, only if they played enough Tecmo Bowl.
Glad we still have Brian St. Pierre instead of Chidi Iwouma and Andre Frazier.
This is starting to feel like the Denver game; every time the Steelers get within a score, the Browns come right back and push it to two scores.
198: Believe me, you're not missing anything. It's a horror show for the Iggles faithful.
If the NFL kept official stats on "clawing your way back into an ugly game only to give up a huge scoring play immediately thereafter," this Steeler team would be in line for some kind of trophy.
Another Steelers' penalty on a return.
Still, it would be Brownslike for Cleveland to blow this one. So I'll retain some hope.
When was the last time we saw a team leading 24-6 in the 4th Q with a QB who is 5-17 for 53 yards?
Vick hits a bomb on 3rd and 16 against a deep zone.
Ocho Cinco scores a TD and cramps? pulls hamstring?
Ridiculous holding call on Kreutz negates about a 30 pass to Berrian. As Aikman said, if they want to call that, they should be throwing a flag on every single play. Just looked like a good blocking job and the defensive guy fell down.
re: 235
did the iggles sell their season away to the devil in order to beat the Cowboys and TO earlier this year? It looks like it now.
Nice play by Palmer to Huit Cinq for the long TD, but he looks like he hurt his hammy.
Time for a rally by that Brees kid.
Ouch. Screen read; Vick doesn't get rid of the ball and the Falcons have to punt.
jason taylor gets his 6th forced fumble this year
243 - I think they are still paying Lucifer back for the Super Bowl run in 2004.
How does the Man Law about no fruit in beer apply to Lambic Ales?
Thanks Mr. Wimbley.
Dumb facemask by the Browns' Wimbley.
Nice blocking Smith. Really nice.
it took awhile but the real joey finally showed up. i hope saban has figured out you can't make chicken salad out of chicken #$*&.
What's going on with Philly? Looking one week ahead?
Wow!
How did Ben not get sacked on that play?!
Ben Roethlisberger with the most impressive incomplete pass you will ever want to see.
Ravens are moving the ball, picking up key 3rd downs. Not looking good for the Falcons.
253 - well, that and the franchise QB is out with a knee injury and will not return.
As soon as someone gives Keyshawn the damn ball, he gives it back, throwing an INT.
Chad Johnson must be OK; another deep catch.
Team to beat in the NFC South: Carolina.
I hate Chad Johnson.
...and Keyshawn's pass gets picked off. Was it TMQ who talked a few weeks ago about how much less effective WR passes were than RB passes?
TD, Parker.
Maroney leaves Nick Barnett wondering what happened.
35-0.
And tomorrow's Audibles will be split to be comments praising New England's effort and sneers toward Green Bay.
Or maybe Packer fans like me who wrote positive things about the team.
Because today I read as a complete idiot. What a dismal performance.
So, let's provide some kick coverage this time, guys.
I really don't hate Chad Johnson--it's just for today.
261: At least he's too injured to dance.
I never thought I'd ask for the return of the "in the grasp and control" rule, but after that ridiculous Roethlisberger incompletion, it might be time. The Browns defender had to let up because if he finished the tackle, it would have been a penalty and possibly a fine. But Ben was able to stumble and keep his feet, and get an incomplete pass off.
If they're going to penalize and fine every defender who hits a QB hard, and defenders let up early because they know it, they have to call the QB down in those cases. We all saw it a few weeks ago when Freeney didn't kill Brady, it just happened again. We can argue forever about how much the QB should be protected. But to put the defense in a no-win where they get penalized if they finish the tackle but hurt if they don't, is just ridiculous.
Backbreaking drive by Baltimore -- 15 plays, 80 yards, 8 minutes off the clock taking it from 11 left to 3, ending in another Lewis TD. Game over.
why is brady still in the game? hasn't he been banged up enough this year?
New England has 21 first downs. Green Bay has four.
The Pats have had the ball twice as often as the Packers.
My gosh.
Drew throws a pick six. Game over, but let's see how the guys salvage this.
The worst is that this will be a tiebreaker that the Saints will lose.
wow chris chambers caught a 3rd down pass for a 1st down
Polamalu bats down the Browns 3rd down pass.
I think I'll just root for the bucs to go on a 7 game winning streak from here on out.
Ward is hurt.
Is that Ward's leg that doesn't have an ACL?
HA!!! The announcers were busy praising Aaron Brooks for resurrecting the Raiders offense, and he promptly throws an interception in the end zone with 32 seconds left ... Raiders lose.
j taylor int screen pass and goes for 6
And it's a blocked extra point. Yes, these are the Saints I know.
well... at least Vick didn't turn the ball over.
And now Ben is hurt.
I told you guys he was safer on his bike than he is dropping back to pass behind this offensive line........
BTW, J.P. Losman did OK this week. Let's see how the staff finds a way to bash him this week.
please bengals pound the rock, please.
Anybody see what happened to Bears DE Ogunleye on the sack of Pennington?
Campbell brought the Redskins within three, despite having no running game, no Santana Moss, goofy drops by Lloyd and Betts and others, and a defense that forgot to show up for the second half.
Unfortunately, TB recovered the onside kick.
j taylor with another sack and ff
Please no turnover... please no turnover...
Come on Ben, you have a good game-losing fumble in you...
286: Judging by the play and his reaction, he might have an abdominal strain/pull. As he tackled Pennington he got bent back a bit. He jogged off the field to the locker room after he got up, so it must not be terribly serious, though he was in obvious pain when it first happened.
Willie!
TD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nice play ben
257, Thanks, I had only seen the score. Since then I saw that there were also a few flukey plays like a punt returned and an INT rtn. Is this a cursed year in Philly or what? How bad is McNabb?
Anyone have the 4th quarter stats on Ben? WOW!
Don't get too cocky, Steelers fans. You still have to kick off...
Is it just me or has Jason Taylor been totally insane for the past three weeks?
Reed should kick this one out of bounds, no? I wouldn't recommend it with a 3-point lead, but when the Browns need a TD, and when they're likely to run it back at least to the 40...
wow., 2-7 Lions at the 1-8 cardinals ...
thats going to be a cover-your-eyes matchup!
