Comments
Rodney Harrison, Andre Dyson, and Kevan Barlow are all expected to miss Sunday's game.
I like the commentary in the articles about Harrison's injury. The articles note that "Harrison broker his shoulder blade when Marvin Harrison fell on his arm." THey leave out (what was noted on FO at the time) that this happened as the result or Rodney face-masking Marvin for the tackle. (uncalled)

Am I on the wrong web site, or what?
Waverly (#5 )--
I think it's them, actually.
Good luck to the Jets, but better luck to my Pats, I hope...
Some other thoughts out there...
I think I almost want Indy to make it to the AFC Title game...just so the Pats can beat them again.
Who likes Michael Irvin? Honestly? Who?
I'm thinking that Seattle-Kansas City could be one of the most boring Super Bowl matchups ever.
What are the odds in Vegas that Brady will throw to at least 7 receivers?
Would someone please tell “Steve Young that it’s OK to comment on this website without being totally, ravingly pissed off? At least he’s gotten the caps lock off, finally. Many of his comments are actually interesting and accurate, but he is so quick to fall into an insulting, abusive tone that he discredits his own arguments.
Steve Young, I think you should sit the next few minutes out, just stop talking for a while.
young curmudgeon,
I LIKE THE WAY YOU THINK. I FIND OVER-AGGRESSIVE AND REACTIONARY POSTS AND ANGRY GRATING AND OFF-PUTTING. UNFORTUNATELY, CHASTISING PEOPLE FOR SUCH POSTS GENERALLY HAS LITTLE EFFECT ON STOPPING THEM, WHICH IS UNFORTUNATE, YOU WELL-SPOKEN AND THOUGHT-PROVOKING INTERNET USER!
Well, Johnson's not running over those tiny tiny colts defenders yet. Early days, of course...
oops, wrong place.
sooo, NE over NO, with no reasons given, is the worst prediction ever, just a guess, but Balt over NO, no reasons given, is the gospel truth....it has to be satire, right?...right??

Nice.
what did we realize in the DAL-SEA game?
Romo is not the second coming of Brady circa 2001.
The ghosts of 'iron leg' Drew Dledsoe are exhorted forever ...
RE: #2, somehow I think that Marvin will take that trade all day.
Considering how crazy yesterday's games were, what will happen today? I'm predicting NYJ will break out the wishbone and try a statue of liberty play. The Pats will use a 5-1-5 defense to take away the short-intermediate routes. On offense, they'll use a 3-TE set with all the TEs motioning into wide receivers, and they'll run out of the formation. And Nugent and Gostowski will both nail 55+ yard field goals. And the Jets will try one fake punt and one suprise onsides kick. The onsides kick will succeed, but the fake punt won't.
Re 10: Thanks, Pat. Using all caps was really funny.
NE 12.2 off dvoa, -8.4 def dvoa, brady 19.6 dvoa playing at home
vs.
NYJ 2.7 off dvoa, 10.7 def dvoa, pennington 10.4 dvoa playing on the road
analysis- Pennington is not good enough to dictate to the NE defense while Brady can do so to the NYJ defense. On top of that, NYJ offense is already very average, while NE offense can at times be dominating yet somehow "unexplosive".
NE 34
Jets 10
I'm watching ESPN, and ya know, I think "Hammerin Hank" rubs turtle wax all over his face before he makes his picks. He's all red and shiny.
Not related to the game, but on the CBS pre-game show, it appears that Charlie Casserly is verbally unable to break "Kirk Ferentz" into two separate words.
As a fan of none of the teams in the playoffs, I'm stuck rooting for hilarious games. The four teams playing today have a lot of work cut out for them if they want to be funnier than yesterday's pair of games.
I personally am hoping the Jets bring back the crazy multiple lateral play. We need to see that again.
Front page of NY Times sports section has: Harvey Araton taking issue with the Giants running the ball with a 6-point lead and 2:38 left in the 4th quarter last Saturday; and Bill Rhoden dusting off the "black QB's deserve more respect" essay he first wrote in a book report about James Harris while in the 3rd grade.
Good to see the potentially Worst Football Day in NY History is off to a good start.
Armed and Famous, what a great idea.
So if Eli is Britney Spears and Grossman is Paris Hilton, does that make Romo Lindsey Lohan? And who is Phillip Rivers?

and we have our first 'this is our country' appearance.
How come the fact that Chad Pennington is 2-0 in Wild Card games was never brought to my attention?
As you answer that question, keep in mind I live in Northern New Jersey (read: Jets/Giants territory).
29: Because nobody cares about the Jets. They're the Mets of the NFL.
Word is Nick Saban unloaded his library of Patriots audio tapes of line audibles cheap to the Jets now that he didn't need them any more...
Alright Pats and Jets fans....let's get this show on the road...
Can tonight produce better football and as wacky a finale? Please?
I'm calling it right now:
Jets win on a Brad Smith 2-point conversion on a Statue Of Liberty play in overtime. Brian Schottenheimer is king.
Are they implying the Patriots are a better team in good weather?
Did i read right in NFL gamecenter - the Pats went "NO HUDDLE" for the second play of the game?
Dyson's allowing way too much of a cushion on Gaffney.
Jabar Gaffney is making Andre Dyson his bitch ?
#38: In a nutshell, yeah.
patriots are going to kill the jets
Looks like the crazy coverage isn't helping the Jets much...
The Jets look like a bad madden defense when you change hot routes:
linebackers runnin into each other.
The Jets are scheming really terribly on defense. They need to switch up the blitzing.
The Patriots protection has been flawless so far. The Jets are mixing up location, sending tons of people, and the 5 linemen look like they are handling 7, 8 rushers...
and touchdown DIllon!!!
36, yeah, no huddle.
And a TD! Booyah! way to get this show on the road...
If you're a Jets fan, that's not encouraging.
No botched hold on that extra point? Boring.
probably not a good sign that its 3 minutes in, and I think the patriots are going to more than cover the spread.
i hope mangini has some master plan as it looks like the "Empire Strikes back" is the show for the afternoon
Disclaimer: They just played 'Star Wars: A New Hope' on TV!
If you're keeping track at home, that's:
Armed & Famous - 2
This Is Our Country - 1
Did he really just say the Jets have the best kick return guy in the league? Hmm, there's this Devin Hester guy in Chicago who might argue...
Speaking of Armed and Famous, a year or so ago there was a post on Deadspin about how a swat team, complete with Shaq showed up to arrest a guy. Turned out it was the wrong address.
51: Hester's a better punt returner, but he hasn't been returning kicks all year for Chicago.
Man...Pats are really getting pressure.
re:51
Miller has been much better than hester on kicks. Hester has been great on punts.
Welcome back Ty Warren, adn Vince Wilfork. We've missed you.
And the Jets go "no huddle" .. looks like the defenses might have a long day ...
BTW, has there been any game with a significant "no huddle" strategy adopted across both teams
Ben Graham is the best Australian player in the league, ever.
Does every NFL kick require a penalty on the return team?
56: When the Jets and Colts played earlier in the year, it was all no-huddle. Same thing whenever the Colts play the Bengals.
thats probably the difference between the jets and the pats
Both went "no huddle" - Pats went 4/6 for 50 yds on passing; 4 and 15 yds on the ground with a TD to boot. The jets had a sack, a scramble and an incomplete
but what scares me is, mangini is gonna put together a great team within a couple of seasons and AFC East might turn out like a AFC West (strong teams!)
59/B: Thanks.
#60: So if they're the AFC West, who's the Raiders?
Gaffney is an idiot :(.
As a fan of good football, I thank Gaffney for the mistake. I don't want this to turn into a blowout ... too soon, anyway.
to be fair, when he landed, he didnt have the first down...he did have it in the air.
forgot to add a disclaimer: the raiders are the 'free raiders' in AFC West. Didn't count them when i made the previous statement
62: Maybe Miami can hire Shell as their new coach.
FWIW, the Raiders are the last AFC West team to make it to the Super Bowl.
62/ZS: You are pretty fast!
63, lol
Eh, he slipped...it happens. I'm wondering how many times they'll go to thta play until the Jets try to jump the route for the interception...
Holy crap Wilfork is a huge man lol...
Honestly, as far as the AFC East goes, the future scares me. The patriots have pretty much everyone locked up till 2010, so theyre not goin anywhere for a while.
The Jets, and Bills both look like they'll be competitive in the next couple years, adn the dolphins might be too. 4 Playoff quality teams in the same division could be interesting.
"I’m calling it right now:
Jets win on a Brad Smith 2-point conversion on a Statue Of Liberty play in overtime. Brian Schottenheimer is king."
That would be great, except that in the NFL, there are no extra point conversions in overtime because, you know, the game would already be over after a touchdown because OT is sudden death.
BS Call
I didn't do this Photoshop, but it's pretty funny.
Stupid Wilfork :(.
Oh CMON.
You cant fault a guy for throwing the runner to the ground when you wait that long to blow the whistle.
That is what they said about the NFC East this year. Someone will screw it up. Probably the stupid Dolphins, sigh.
Oh no! Not the 15 yd penalties again!!!
Kellen Clemens watch begins now.
Probably should have challenged that catch...just for the hell of it.
Was that an injury timeout, or a regular timeout?
Chad hurt his arm when he stopped himself from falling, not from the hit.
75: I really hope Dwight shows up and consoles Romo.
Dwight: "Are you PMSing?"
Did anybody get a good look at the sideline catch/non-catch?
Re: #82
Good question.
Announcers implied it was a timeout so that Pennington wouldn't have to miss a snap.
Ramsey? Where's Clemens?
And the announcers were wrong
ROsey Colvin is such a stud.
Alright, why the *@&#( did they put in Patrick Ramsey over Clemens?!
85: I did, his foot was clearly on the white, so he was out of bounds.
Man, the Pats seem like they're playing the Rams in the Supber Bowl...VERY chippy. I like it. :)
Just looked at this thread, and what happened, Rich Conley et al:
Where is all the moral indignation about tricking the opponent when they're trying to substitute? You NE guys hammered Manning when he used to do this, and now not a word, NOT A WORD, about Brady doing it?
I guess if Tommy Boy does it, it's just good football, eh?
Great! Ramsey is in! Atleast Chad knew which direction to throw to. ..
Looks like it was an injury timeout. Surprising.
Mangenius outfoxes his mentor!
93 what the hell are you talking about?
Everybody does that now.
Oh, and after what happened with Maurice Jones Drew, you KNOW that they're taking every guy to the ground unless they hear 20 whistles go off.
I will say, though, that Tommy Boy looks like he's on today
Purds/93: In this universe, everything that Tom Brady does is right and everything that Peyton does is wrong
I thought you figured that out by now!
#93
That's dangerously close to lighting the "irrational" flame.
Rich:
You're not going to make me go back and look up all those posts, are you? Those ones from the Pats fans about how unmanly it was of Manning to trick the other team?
You're telling me those never happened?
I missed the commercial break, were there any "This Is Our Countries" or "Armed And Famouses"?
Commercial, punt, commercial. God, I love the NFL.
Ch V:
Oops. You're right. My mistake. I forgot.
Of course, I can't take seriously the analysis of anyone who thinks that the 15-yard penalty against Wolfolk was a bad call.
Re: #97
He's a Colts fan. They all have Peyton Manning Face. :-)
Punting on 4th and 3 from the opposing 37?!? Preposterous! This is the playoffs!
In my books, Mangini missed a trick ...
I dont think punting from your opponent's 36 yd line will win you games in playoffs.
maybe i am wrong, but he did not take a right decision
102: It was like two years ago. I don't think Rich was around back then.
"Alright, why the *@&#( did they put in Patrick Ramsey over Clemens?!"
I assume Ramsey is the #2 QB and Clemens is #3. And if Clemens is the designated #3 emergency quarterback not on the 45 man roster (making Clemens the 46th player eligible to play), if he comes in the game before the fourth quarter, the other QBs on the roster (Pennington and Ramsey) cannot return to the game.
So much for the Pats' three game turnover-free streak.
Hello, Momentum Shift. My name is New York Jets.
Guess that black jersey at practice doesn't count for much, eh DIllon?
No Purds, I'm telling you that no one else was doing that two years ago. Now almost EVERY team does it.
Jets run defense surprisingly hasn't been awful so far, and now a force fumble.
Is it too early to say that the Jets have to score the TD?
If this wasn't the year of "This is Our Country," that Diet Pepsi commercial would be in the running for worst of the year.
110.
Clemens IS the third and inactive QB, so you're exactly right.
105/Purds: I said it in humor., since mine is bad - maybe you did not see it
BTW, i am upset that the Pats get a lot of 15 yd penalties but i also think that they are naive to draw attention from the ref (this is the 8th or 9th game where i have noticed a 15 yd penalty and the pats have not been able to adjust to it)
That was Corey Dillon's tribute to Ben Watson.
#117: Who'd the Patriots get in exchange for Diet Pepsi Machine from the Saints, anyway?
Who the hell would pick the "Fabric Softener" as a nickname? The "Meat Tenderizer" is a good one, though.
Isn't it Prince Rogers Nelson, not just Rogers Nelson? I'm shocked that Jim Nantz isn't up on what the kids are listening to nowadays.
116,
Your right. The Jets O-line is in a world of hurt against the Pats. They can't block them on the run and are struggling to pass block. Jets won't get many chances. They better get 7s when the chance comes.
The Pats WRs are obviously scaring the hell out of the Jets. I've never seen DBs give this kind of cushion in the playoffs.
And if the Jets play that closer, to take that route away, it opens up the deep pass.
Wow, Brady sneaks it on 3rd and short.
Was that a QB sneak from TB on 3 & 1? Since the Pats use it a lot, why are the opponents falling for it, for so long?
They jumped the route that time.
128
Because its an audible. If they try to stack the line, it becomes a pass. They only run that snea when they know its goin to work.
Kerry Rhodes does a superman impression but can't hold the pick. Pats have to punt.
re 70: 0:09 left in the 1st quarter
128,
No one has ever run the QB sneak as well as Tom Brady. He takes the snap, he steps behind his linemen and he moves forward. And he knows how much yardage they need for the first down.
There's never before been a QB who could do all that.
GO COTCHERY GO! GO COTCHERY GO! GO COTCHERY GO!
*checks flag*
GO COTCHERY GO!
Pats fans, what's happened to Chad Jackson? Injured? Inactive? Not quite up Jabar Gaffney's standard of excellence?
Wow... long touchdown
Problems with number 2 wide receivers?
In retrospect, "GO JERRICHO GO" would've had a better ring to it.
The Patriots played like shit on that play. It looked like they were waiting for the flag to bail them out.
Run Jerichco, Run!
133: I've heard he has this power where he can turn invisible, so nobody can see him once the ball is snapped. He's that good.
Everytime the Pats defense are in 3rd and long, i feel uncomfortable ... and cotchery proved it ... burns the pats secondary
TD Jets, long catch and run by Jerricho Cotchery. Jets fans, was this guy a high draft pick or what? I heard nothing about him his first couple years, and he's torched the Pats this year.
RE: Jackson
Jackson has struggled through minor injuries that come with being a none-too-physical rookie WR, and also with the fact that Belichick is not very forgiving of drops.
10-7 Jetskis
wow, Hawkins completely blew that.
Nice stiffarm by Dillon there. I went to the bathroom, and suddenly it's 10-7. Ugh Gaffney should have had that.
Has anyone else noticed that Belicheck and the Pat's bench can't see? Every time they show Belicheck, he's covering his eyes, staring right into the sun. Shouldn't they have designed the stadium so that the visiting team is staring into the sun during afternoon games?
What's the frame rate on that Super Vision camera? That thing does ridiculously nice slow-mo.
LOL, I love Brady. :D
Nantz says "I don't know how they missed [Brady]" ... it's the invisibility cloak, I tells ya.
Brady really does have an invisibility cloak.
147 -- I don't know, but something about it makes it kind of washed out, doesn't it?
141: Apparently he turns invisibile when running on 3rd down whether he's sneaking or not
It seems to be ineffective once he crosses the yellow line, though. It's as if the line is invisible to him...
the jim mora coors lite commercial is the best yet. "there's going to be girls at the picnic. should we talk about the playoffs?" so funny...
146: They could just switch which sideline is for the Patriots and which sideline is for the visitors in the future.
Jabar Gaffney is playing so well. It's so sad to think he'll be sacrificed if they lose the game.
Feh. Gaffney was too busy trying to push off to get his left on the ball. I guess the Patriots' brass isn't going to realize that Jabar is possesion receiver, not a deep threat.
149,
Simms says it's the way he holds the ball that made Vilma try to rip the ball instead of making the sack.
I think it's the power to bend minds. (Although I think the minds that are really bent are those in the media.)
NE Cheerleaders are wearing jackets and long pants. If it hadn't been for that NY punt from the 36, TMQ could declare the game for the Jets. Now it's a toss-up.
Blatant make up call, but I'll take it.
154: That commercial makes me so mad. They had to edit out his lines, and you can see the obvious cuts.
I'm not sure about that PI on the replay.
Cmon Pats, punch this in....maybe on a sneak lol.
162.
I'm not sure if it was PI, but it was most definitely illegal contact.
Interference? But DBs do that all the time in Madden!
162,
It's the same call as the Denver PI in last year's playoffs. DB cannot impede the WR from the ball, even if he uses his back. If the DB makes a play on the ball, no problem. But just like the Pat DB last year, he didn't go for the ball. He turned his head, but that's not enough.
154: Jim Mora's "diddly poo" rant also might make for a good Coors Light commercial, as would Dennis Green's rant after the Cardinals' Monday Night Meltdown against the Bears.
Heads up play by Pennington knocking that ball down.
Good thing it's not a close game, otherwise NE might need those time outs. Oh, wait...
Chad Pennington: 4/10, 102 yds.
Tom Brady: 10/17, 79 yds.
Shouldn't that be encroachment before any other penalty is called?
another 3&7 ... will the pats pass defense raise upto the situation?
Hey NFL, teach your referees to use the friggin whistle!
Why did Pennington throw that screen pass on 2nd and 10 that lost five yards?
Nice stop, Pats.
The Jets think that the no-huddle is a good strategy, but it lengthens the game against a clearly superior opponent. Wouldn't they want to limit the # of possessions of the Pats?
I like how Nantz said how unsettling the Jets style of play was to the Pats so far...just as Graham punted into the endzone.
I just woke up (long night last night on the west coast). How the heck is this game 10-10?
178
The patriots fumbled on the ten yard line, and then blew a coverage for a 79 yard play.
#178: There was a fumble recovery by the Jets that got an FG and a really nice reception by Jerricho Cotchery that led to a touchdown.
You can figure out how the Patriots scored 10.
Gaffney is having a good day.
This game looks a lot like the Pats/Jags game. The pats are completely dominating, yet have blown 2 or 3 plays, and its a close game.
Back-to-back good runs by...Kevin Faulk? Yay! He's our secret weapon!
The Pats are grinding the clock ... current drive started with 7:05 in second quarter and we are already down to 2 min warning .. i guess they will take another minute off the clock
I love how IBM just ran a commercial about all the awesome stuff they let NFL Films do with their footage. Meanwhile there's an entire board here who would kill to have access to just a tiny percentage of that footage or technology, or hell, even to have more than a half hour a week on ESPN devoted to using that film to analyze the game. Thank you, IBM, thank you oh so much for taunting us with what we cannot have. Bastards.
I love that they use that stuff for replays, and such, yet we can't see it during the normal pace of the game. Jerks.
Why is the Jets defense being so awesome? I like it.
184: Loved the way u put it!
Gotta give credit to the Jets endzone defense....pretty rough.
So how many more years are we going to have to wait to see a game from the behind the quarterback aka videogame view?
I can't believe Brady just rushed the team to the line to try to catch the Jets in a substitution. Don't you know how classless that is? It's immoral, it's dangerous, it's something that only someone worse than Satan would do.
I am so disappointed with Jonathon Vilma not only as a football player but as a man in general. I will never forgive him for not doing the sensible thing and sacking Brady in the second quarter and getting the 4th down. That spastic move and feeble swipe at the ball in Brady's grip was embarrassing... the Jets really need to find a way to trade this man over the offseason. (p.s. if I have any misspellings or grammatical errors, forgive me, in my feeble defense I have had 6 beers and 2 shots of patron silver... go jets!)
Nice pass! I was surprised that they didn't go spread offense there.
Schedule schmedule, the Jets are pretty good. Intense game.
Nice hold on that XP.
The Pats take 6:54 off the clock for a 15 play drive killing any chances of Jets reply to the Pats score (unless there is a kickoff TD return!)
That supervision has got to be up at 120fps+. Its certainly not even close to TV's 29.97
Did anybody NOT see a play action fake to a TE as the Pats playcall there?
TD, Daniel Graham!
Hmmmm, Pennington with a hail mary? Oh well.
Phil Simms said exactly what I was thinking - how can the linebackers fall for the play action fake there?
197: Ummm, #55 didn't see it.
NE 12-Brady 10th straight playoff game with a TD pass, tying Ken Stabler & Joe Montana for 3rd longest streak in NFL history (Favre 16 and Marino 12)
Some of the stats that don't add much value to any measure
That's another point for Armed And Famous.
If thet Jets end up needing hail mary--yes this is random--wouldn't Ramsey be brought in?
Armed & Famous makes me hate our freedom.
What was Askew doing there? Why not run out of bounds and give yourself another shot with ~5 seconds left? Why not just drop the ball even? Way to blow a chance at the end of the half, somehow fitting for the JETS franchise.
"Did anybody NOT see a play action fake to a TE as the Pats playcall there?"
Evidently, the supposed Mangenius didn't see it (or maybe his players knew it was coming but still fell for the fake).
Interesting game so far...closer than I would like, but I'm not concerned yet.
Too bad they couldn't have Merriman and Jason Taylor in the studio together.
This game is pretty brutal. But it is nice to see some actual football as opposed to amateur hour yesterday.
Jets better find a pass rush, or at least hit Brady a few times, or this is over.
Tommy Boy is pretty on today.
Such insigntful analysis, Mr. Merriman. Do 'roids affect brain mass?
Please, ask Merriman about testing positive for steroids.
Did Shawne Merriman really just say he thinks the Jets will win?
Did Shawne Merriman really just say he thinks the Jets will win?
Did I really hear Nantz praise him for his "super vision"?
Super Vision!!!
Nantz needs supervision.
The Merriman this still ticks me off. I completely agree with Taylor on this. In fact, I'd argue that if you're caught, then youre out for the year, or at least out for the playoffs.
Imagine the hypocracy if this is how the SB ends: Merriman strips Rex Grossman of the ball and takes it into the endzone for the win. Then, the NFL has to call a known cheater the best player in the biggest game.
What an embarrassing suck-up job by JB to Merriman.
This is much more competitive than I thought it would be.
Wow, that was a softball interview. When Shannon Sharpe asks the hardest question, the interview is a joke. Next time Congress gets on Baseball case, they better bring the NFL.
Trivia: When was the last time the top 4 seeds in both conference made it to the second round? We are half way there in eliminating Wild-card teams and the 2 new york teams to go ...
So according to Shawne Merriman:
1) There will be more scoring in the second half than there was in the first half, which means that over 54 points will be scored total.
2) The Jets have shown they will win because at this point they have held the Patriots to 17 points. Never mind the fact that the Patriots have held the Jets to only 10.
3) He will break out the "Lights-Out" dance next week. Phew. I was worried for a second there that Shawne would not draw as much attention to himself as possible.
How many Armed and Famous are we at now?
#222: Three or four.
At least there haven't been many "This is our country..."
Yup, only one report of those.
Justin Miller is being unimpressive.
216: Cheating is bad, but at least Merriman didn't kill a guy. Err, I mean, end up with bloody clothes after people were stabbed in a night club.
His Wikipedia page makes me fear him.
B:
Yeah, I guess it's all relative
227: whats with the reference about babies?
#211
Please, do you think that all analysts are taking PED?
More 15 yard penalties.
re 224: mellencramp (n)-shooting, hangover-related stomach pain after a night of playing the "This Is Ouuur Country" drinking game
There we go again ... another 15 yd penalty... as much as the pats fans can moan that they are BS calls., the fact that the pats players are being careless means that they are not learning anything ...
#217
I certainly read BJ in that sentence.
Fun first half, but did anyone else see that amazingly blatant uncalled hold on Dillon's touchdown?
Is Asante Samuel in the game? I dont see him on the stats sheet.
I wanna know how Bruschi sitting on someone after the whistle is a penalty, and a jags linebacker spearing a guy in the same situation isnt.
Also, can someone please sum up the latest "Four months ago" NFLN commercial?
The Jets are REALLY lucky that didnt get picked off.
236
Hes there, hes had 2 or 3 passes defenced.
Desnt have any tackles though.
#238: Damnit, did I miss it?!
241: I saw it once yesterday and missed the first half.

WTF is this commercial with the guy from Evil Dead?
hhee...I love Bruce Campbell. This commercial is insane.
Well, damn. Now I have to start wearing Old Spice.
Old Spice ads would be better if they featured a guy with a chainsaw for a hand.
This..... is my BOOMSTICK!!!
That Old Spice commercial was very... odd... yet hypnotizing. Excuse me while I bathe myself in cologne.
the patriots need to cut out this penalty crap.
Man...wide open!
ugh. Thats so unbrady. I blame it on all this recent scrambling. Its Michael Vick syndrome..holding onto the ball way too long because you think you can get something.
Excellent Brooks-esque sack taken by Brady on 2nd down. Sure, you could go down for the 2-yard loss, but why, when you can keep running backwards and lose 9 instead?
How was that field goal not blocked?
Yikes...and one hell of a sack to match the good pass. Protection just broke down. Cmon Gostkowkski...
Yes. Back up by 7.
20-13 Pats, it looked like Gostkowski hooked that kick a bit because of the Jet player diving across at the last second.
243: Awesome, thanks.
Coles out with a jaw injury...that's big.
That Claritin ad reminds me of red tick beer. "Needs more dog!"
I like the Old Spice commercial because it's a good way to let me know who can be my friend.
I really like my truck. But if I didn't work on so many jobsites where my tires would keep getting slashed and my windows broken, I would check out one of those Toyotas tomorrow. Now that's how you make a great commercial - this is what makes our product so much better than whatever you're using. It also helps if you make a product much better than what I'm currently using.
What about these creepy white people made Vonage think they could convince anyone to buy this service?
Coles is on the field.
My bad, Coles not so out.
Does the in-game Nantz promo for Armed and Famous count?
(Originally read "Armed and Dangerous", possibly because I was listening to Anthrax earlier today.)
umm...O totally just missed that play.
Oh..my god.
Is it just me, or have there been lots of weird calls this year?
This might make up for the Maruice Jones Drew call....
Speaking of Aaron Brooks'esque.
That was clearly a lateral.
Nice play by Rosey, and nice heads up by Wilfork. Too bad hes slower than dirt.
No way that goes forwards. IF the Pats take this in it's the ballgame.
And why are the Jets linemen not "playing to the whistle"?
C.Pennington to NYJ 46 for -6 yards
Wouldn't that be a sack?
>_
Man....talk about a back breaking play against the Jets...
Some graphic earlier in the game said that this was the first post-season game for this officiating crew. They're doing a very good job.
Wilfork chased down by Mangold ..
man, that is two huge people rolling down the field ...
So often I see these quick WR screens and swing passes batted away, and they sure look like laterals that are incorrectly called incomplete. Good to see the officials called this one right.
I'm beginning to doubt that the Pats O is really 2nd in the red zone and the Jets D is 26th.
Centrifuge, I have to agree. Any game where I haven't thrown my remote at the TV is a good one.
That was definitely a lateral. It's the second time the Jets have run that play with a quick screen to Cotchery that actually is a lateral. The first time, there was a holding penalty on the receiver blocking for him. At the time, I thought the Jets were setting up a trick play, and the next time Cotchery might catch it and then pass it downfield. Who knows if that was the plan this time. But I don't think we'll see that lateral to Cotchery again until next season (because we won't see it again today, and there will be no more Jets games this year, partially because of that play).
278.
Yeah, seriously. Although, I think the Pats have run on every 1st and 2nd down inside the redzone. It may be that theyre pretty much telegraphing their plays.
Heads up by Wilfork, recover the fumble. I also liked how he walked the first couple yards to keep the Jets from catching on to him...and then he still got caught from behind. Yay, Vince!
Big stop by NYJ. As for the officials, I've hardly noticed them. Which is exactly how it should be.
WTF?
Come ON!
260,
Absolutely. Vonage tells us that it is the smart choice for idiots who make nothing but stupid decisions in the other aspects of their lives. Who wouldn't identify with an appeal like that? Can't you see people at home watching? "Hey Mildred! I'm as just stupid as those people. Guess I should get Vonage."
Just as bad as Chevy ads pitching cars that fly.
I thought for a second that flag was going to be on Bruschi for coming in after the pass hit the ground. It was obviously nothing, but it looked kinda weird how he jumped in there, and with some of the crap that's been called personal fouls this year...
it's nice hearing pats fans representing bonecrusher =)
This game would be an absolute blow out, if the patriots red zone offense could actually put the ball in the endzone.
I'm not loving the pass coverage so far. How come the Pats are dropping LBs and giving 10 yard cushions to the WRs?
288,
Just like the 2003 AFC champ game.
Re: 288
I sympathize but that's sort of like saying if they had wings, they could fly. Jets have a very good game plan and if not for that freak play, they'd have a chance to tie it. Pennington's having superb game atc.
Is there anyone here who agrees with the Jets strategy of going for FGs rather than taking chances when in the redzone? I didnt like the last one and i didnt like this one as well.
291? If not for a freak play the jets could tie it? If not for a freak play the jets would be down by 20 points right now.
(the dillon fumble..his first in like 200 playoff carries, or the cotcherie TD)
#292: Mangini finds your lack of faith disturbing.
292: Yea, you don't dance with the Champ, you gotta knock him down.
Re: 293
The Wilfork freak play. There's nothing freak about beating Artrell Hawkins for a long TD.
295
Especially when you're down by 7-10 points, and the more fieldgoals you exchange, the less time there is to come back
296
And there nothing freak about a lateral being batted down. The only freak element of that is that it didnt get run back for 6
Ugh, whats that like the 12th underthrown long ball by brady, in a row?
should have been offensive PI.
