No comments yet? Is this game off limits for reasons of which I am not aware -- or does no one care?

Food Fight
Okay...I'll take a stab at starting it off. If no one cares about the game, FOers can debate about the respective team cuisines. Lead off with sandwiches. Muffaletta versus cheese steak...

OK. I'll add something.
Apparently, there's a 10% chance of rain in this game.
weather.com's sports page (here) lists a variety of sports you can look at.
One of them? Yup. Arena.

I need this game to be more higher-scoring than the Ind-Bal game was. I've got Drew Brees, Deuce McAllister, and Donte Stallworth on my fantasy team.

[oops, just misposted this to the nfc previews thread]
since i’m lazy and can’t be bothered to look it up, who is the enormous black man who just told me not to forget katrina (thanks for that, enormous black man!)? isn’t this jb’s job?
and jon ogden is going to rock in the 68-long as one of these studio guys when he's done playing.

What is the over under for comments on this game. I say around 300.

I was in New Orleans last night, and the mood is fantastic. I'm adopting them as my NFC team. Everybody seems to be thinking of this game as "house money" since they're not used to being in the playoffs at all. :)

To be fair, weather could be an important consideration when traveling to/from the game, deciding how close you need to park, where to go after the game, etc. I know I'd be a lot more likely to walk around the stadium area looking for stuff to do if it's 55 than 20 and snowing.
35

y'all know the actor who plays the dad who got hosed was also senator clay davis on the wire, right?
between him and the guy from six feet under who's now one of the jackoffs in the dominos commercial, it doesn't look as though hbo is a pathway to acting success...
41

theres a guy from six feet under in a dominos commercial? i dont remember that. can you briefly describe his role?
all i remember is that jackoff who thinks he's screwing the pizza kid for $5 pizzas. unless that's pizza hut.

the dominos commercial where the pizza hut and papa johns delivery guys are there enjoying the dominos pizza - that commercial.
the main character from six feet under is one of the delivery guys.
50
by zzyzx (not verified) :: Sat, 01/13/2007 - 10:22pm
Why did the Saints take that holding penalty? I'd rather have 3rd and 10 for the opposing offense than 2nd and 14...
Oh well, no harm done.
51
by Pat on the back (not verified) :: Sat, 01/13/2007 - 10:22pm
I wonder how reaching the playoffs will effect their ranking in the "worst franchise ever" category. Considering this is already tied for their deepest ever penetration into the playoffs, I think this will help (this is their 6th time in the postseason, and 3rd division title in their 30 or 31 years of existence).
51

Would it be outrageous to have Westbrook return punts today?
59
by Harris (not verified) :: Sat, 01/13/2007 - 10:26pm
The whole goal of playing 7 in the box is to avoid giving up the big play in the passing game. This, however, does not work when you allow 27-yard runs on first down.
60
by Harris (not verified) :: Sat, 01/13/2007 - 10:27pm
Payton is catching Reid-itis. Why would you throw there?
61
by Adam (not verified) :: Sat, 01/13/2007 - 10:27pm
What they'll likely to is have Westbrook return punts when the Saints are punting from deep in their end, but otherwise stick Mahe back there.

Saints DBs should be playing the inside of the field. Garcia's arm strength only permits deep throws down the middle, not the sidelines.

136

Wow, two huge plays in a row. But can someone punch it in the end zone?
FWIW, I actually like the Siragusa segments with the grounds crew. Seeing it acted out makes these things make a whole lot more sense than listening to him try to explain it. I would add that if the linemen need to move towards the line, then even if the DL don't move around pre-snap, they're still blocking from a different angle than they'd want, and could be more vulnerable to speed rushes from the edge.

by Pat on the back (not verified) :: Sat, 01/13/2007 - 11:17pm
is there a bye this year? Sometimes there isn't.
I'm actually surprised that most years they don't go without them. More likely for the weaker team to pull an upset, because the better team has less time to gameplan/excert their dominance. That would probably be better if the SB was closer. most tend to be blowouts.
And also, of course, I referenced back to my own post last time instead of 183.

The Super Bowl isn't about giving the weaker team a better chance to pull an upset. It is about money. A bye week means more time to hype the game, sell merchandise, spend time in the host city, etc., which all leads to more money being made by the various interested parties.

209 - Yeah, I'd just prefer it that way. Unfortunately, because everything in the league is about money, our opinions don't matter to the NFL. always have the bye, never get good announcers, never impliment changes that make the game more pure for us; they always cater to the casual fan (ie the idiots). It's the irony of the game: those that care the most about are the least likely to get improvements they want because they are the ones least likely to stop watching.
For evidence of the extent of this, I actually had my fiancee tape the pats games, burn them to DVD, then mail them to me in Iraq while I tried to ignore the boxscore. I had a 2 week lag on watching the game. So, ironically, the league would never impliment any changes that I thought were a good idea unless they appealled to Joe "I don't watch football". It sucks.

260
by B (not verified) :: Sat, 01/13/2007 - 11:42pm
Right, it wasn't a trick punt. None of the Saints were trying to block, they were all running down field as if the ball was punted.
by Kunk (not verified) :: Sat, 01/13/2007 - 11:42pm
256: Considering Weatherford now has more rushing yards than Westbrook, it boggles my mind why the Saints didn't try to kick that.

263
by Darrel Michaud (not verified) :: Sat, 01/13/2007 - 11:44pm
I just looked at the official pbp and they said the brees play started with 32s. Maybe all my yelling at the saints for wasting time not calling a timeout was unwarranted
264
by Pat on the back (not verified) :: Sat, 01/13/2007 - 11:44pm
Definitely not a fake punt. The long snapper was slow on getting his head up to engage the block, and the left gaurd was driven out of the hole, which let the guy get through the middle to have what would have been a block.
Because it is illegal to engage a long snapper until he raises his head, that play usually doesn't happen. However, the left gaurd moved off too much and created a hole that allowed the Eagle to get through without having to engage the center, and the punter was smart enough to see the guy and abort the punt. A happy coincidence that led to no points for either team.

Did that Hail Mary look to anyone else that Colston might have had possession when he came down, and the ball was knocked away afterwards? I thought it was incomplete at first, but on the one replay they showed it looked like maybe it might have been worth a review... I doubt it would be ruled a TD, but he did get his hands on it and bring it down to his body, and it wasn't knocked away until after he hit the ground... Or am I seeing things?
266
by Not saying (not verified) :: Sat, 01/13/2007 - 11:45pm

by MJK (not verified) :: Sat, 01/13/2007 - 11:47pm
The clock did seem to be running oddly--it would keep running when people went out of bounds or threw incomplete, and stop mysteriously for a few seconds after running plays. Hard to tell if that benefitted either team, though...

That was the worst attempt at a tackle on a long run I've seen in a long time. Thank heavens..

Wow. Volkswagen decides to prove Chevy doesn't have the worst car commerical in history. However, I'd still have to give the nod to Chevy since the Volkswagen one doesn't play as often.

Well I was going to type in late in the 2nd quarter that Westbrook hasn't distinguished himself. Glad I didn't. :-)
The Falcons and Bucs are still lacking edge rushers, the Saints need someone to protect Drew Brees, and the Panthers desperately need a second good wideout.

Yup. Arena.
Gonna throw in a comment before I start destroying my liver....GO BIRDS
THIS IS OUR #%&$&!@$ COUNTRY!!!!!!! YAAAAWWWWW!!!
Go Green Man Group!
Um. Bill. The game is indoors.
Note to self: Read the second half of comments
So, no Joe Horn.
Football! Go Saints, because I've got bragging rights on the line with my old alum buddies...
Colts/Raves could easily surpass the 500 comment mark.
What is the over under for comments on this game. I say around 300.
I'll take the over...
I will take the over...
I will definitely take the over...
Yep, I'll say 397
That's right, I'll take the over...
11 I think his name is Curt Menafee - fills in for JB sometimes, and manages to be far less irritating
someone silence siragusa now, please!!
Siragusa: Tonight, somebody's gonna win, and somebody's gotta lose.
That's some hard-hitting analysis, Goose.
For the record, it kept telling me "duplicate post" when I tried to just paste and repost. Man, they thought of everything. Good job, FO server inventor!
christ, tony siragusa needs to stop drinking coffee before the telecast. he's going to be dead when he's 50 if he doesn't relax.
The Goose seems angry. No press buffet today?
I was in New Orleans last night, and the mood is fantastic. I'm adopting them as my NFC team. Everybody seems to be thinking of this game as "house money" since they're not used to being in the playoffs at all. :)
According to Siragusa, someone will win and someone will lose. Was someone born to sing the blues?
is goose angry because the ravens lost?
nice, 23. very nice.
I wonder if this post-season will push them out of the basement in the franchise rankings and give the Cardinals the rightful mantle of "worst franchise" [see link]
What did dad get?
Aftershave....
No, dad got hosed!
Best. Commercial. Ever.
that verizon commercial is hilarious. but shouldn't daddy be happier to get them ho's for xmas?
I wonder if this post-season will push them out of the basement in the franchise rankings and give the Cardinals the rightful mantle of "worst franchise" (for explaination, check out the old link I referenced)
#25
Even football players come to understand the law of the excluded middle.
I'm still waiting for the Old Spice one to appear again.
To be fair, weather could be an important consideration when traveling to/from the game, deciding how close you need to park, where to go after the game, etc. I know I'd be a lot more likely to walk around the stadium area looking for stuff to do if it's 55 than 20 and snowing.
Actually, Curt Menefee doesn't fill in for JB, because JB is now on CBS.
I'm not ashamed to say I just had an orgasm.
bush just got JACKED UP!
sheldon brown just mowed reggie bush's lawn.
Welcome to the playoffs, Reggie.
y'all know the actor who plays the dad who got hosed was also senator clay davis on the wire, right?
between him and the guy from six feet under who's now one of the jackoffs in the dominos commercial, it doesn't look as though hbo is a pathway to acting success...
Hey Saints, it's not against the rules to throw the ball on the other side of the line of scrimmage.
34:
Was that because of Bush getting banged?
Dang. That was one heck of a blow Bush took
theres a guy from six feet under in a dominos commercial? i dont remember that. can you briefly describe his role?
all i remember is that jackoff who thinks he's screwing the pizza kid for $5 pizzas. unless that's pizza hut.
I still see Jeff Garcia and think about the Sistas in Shawshank.
Was that some of the hot sauce that the Ravens left in their fridge getting poured onto Reggie Bush?
Please, don't go empty backfield against the most blitz happy team in the NFL.
Re 32:
If it's 20 and snowing in New Orleans, I'm going to find a bunker to live in.
the dominos commercial where the pizza hut and papa johns delivery guys are there enjoying the dominos pizza - that commercial.
the main character from six feet under is one of the delivery guys.
Why did the Saints take that holding penalty? I'd rather have 3rd and 10 for the opposing offense than 2nd and 14...
Oh well, no harm done.
I wonder how reaching the playoffs will effect their ranking in the "worst franchise ever" category. Considering this is already tied for their deepest ever penetration into the playoffs, I think this will help (this is their 6th time in the postseason, and 3rd division title in their 30 or 31 years of existence).
That commercial is several years old...it was before 6 feet under...
48:
It would have been 3rd and 4 or 5.
51 - ah, I misread how much they gained then. Never mind.
I've gotten inspired enough by EPC that I'm going to tape this one and rewatch it myself.
really? dominos is showing six year old commercials?
McAllister can play on my team any day
Would it be outrageous to have Westbrook return punts today?
The whole goal of playing 7 in the box is to avoid giving up the big play in the passing game. This, however, does not work when you allow 27-yard runs on first down.
Payton is catching Reid-itis. Why would you throw there?
What they'll likely to is have Westbrook return punts when the Saints are punting from deep in their end, but otherwise stick Mahe back there.
I'm I the only one that really likes the Jeep Compass commercials?
Did I miss the memo about no one being allowed to score a TD today?
That bobble-head chick is hot...
How many yards did he run WITH Brian Dawkins around his waist?!
No NFC in Brazil. Today, Colts-Ravens. Tomorrow, Patriots-Charges! Next week, AFCCG! What on hell is happening?!
It's a shame that Christopher Lloyd is doing crappy TV commercials while David Spade is working on getting his 12th television show cancelled...
Is Considine supposed to be the strong safety? Because most safeties should be able to, you know, tackle and not get blown up by RBs.
Jeez, Thomas was toast there. The safety saved his butt.
Did her shirt say what I think it said??
Saints DBs should be playing the inside of the field. Garcia's arm strength only permits deep throws down the middle, not the sidelines.
Yup
"Fuck da Eagles." You stay classy, New Orleans.
I enjoyed the "F*** Da Eagles" t-shirt.
Confirmed, Eagle Girl. "F--- Da Eagles." Classless skank on the screen in NO.
man, i wanna know dat girl in da fuck da eagles short shirt
Someone's going to get a call from the FCC...
Oddly, "Reggie Brown" was the name that popped up when I entered my own name into the "Your Adult Movie Star Screen Name" generator.
Re: 71,
Oh cmon...who's ever accused NEW ORLEANS of being classy? lol
68-Sure did.
That is SO wrong
For what its worth, I used to see a relatively large number of "Puck Frinceton" tees when I was in Philly.
And, on the flipside, I don't remember many people claiming that Philly fans are the epitome of class ;)
Well, you know what they say about New Orleans: "What happens in New Orleans, stays in New Orleans. Until it gets swept into the Gulf of Mexico."
Okay, I've had too much bourbon...
Mike Carey really likes his job, maybe a little too much.
RUN, GODDAMMIT. RUN.
Many people haven't met me yet :-)
If anyone's offended by the shirt, they can just toss her some beads and it'll go away.
I bet you quite a few people have "met" that profane short shirt girl.
Here's a thought, Garcia...RUN FOR THE FIRST DOWN FER CHRISSAKES!!!
Oh, and I saw the F*** Da Eagles shirt too. Verrrryyy classy.
So are you in the Harold Carmichael throwback tonight, Eagle Girl?
Wonder what the odds are of the Saints still being in 'Nawlins in 5-10 years.
I predict a cooling off for Garciamania.
Hey, wasn't this game supposed to have touchdowns? Teams are still allowed to score them, right?
That wasn't the Catholic Match girl was it?
That was pretty
Trogdor- you owe me money for a new monitor after I spit water out on it. Thanks.
it's a battle of the punters!
fuck da eagles is weak. at least bill burr was creative about it.
No, the NFL banned touchdowns for the divisional playoffs, obviously.
Do we have a Rod Hood abuse meter ready? The Samari Rolle one never really got warmed up earlier.
Let's see if I get this: You're having great success with the run, so you immediately stop running and throw incompletes like they're going out of style?
Okay, I'm gonna' go ahead and say it: I actually like Moose Johnston.
And Siragusa needs a muzzle.
Pot is right. Kettle is so black.
It could have been more classless (if that's even proper English). Remember those WVU hicks who were sporting the "West Fuckin' Virginia University" shirts?
Okay, so the goose just made a good comment to make me look like an ass (as if I needed help for that).
...and then throw a four yard pass on 3rd and 7. Yeah, that's great, just great.
Who'd have thought we'd see a defensive contest between two of the highest-scoring offenses in the NFC?
Unfortunately don't have one :-( ...but I'm not wearing a F&%$$ the Saints shirt either.
Okay, someone remind me why Mahe is still playing in the NFL...
Yes, it does seem like the Saints should get more creative with the run, with the apparent success they've had so far.
I'll say this for Moose as an announcer - he's light years ahead of Troy (state the obvious whenever possible and hedge-hedge-hedge) Aikman.
Well, the best I can do is my F** the police shirt.
106 - he has compromising pictures of Andy Reid felating a goat.
siragusa is employing the "2 groundskeepers and a security guard" offense.
Garcia is a lucky man.
Garcia, PLEASE stop throwing to Stallworth. It's not working.
And the DBs from the last game have arrived in Norleans to drop interceptions all over the place.
111 - That would have been more effective than what the Ravens trotted out there today.
oooooo what a lucky man.... he was...
Somebody tell Jeff we are in white jerseys
Garcia channeling his inner Peyton Manning.
just go back to the single wing and give the ball to westbrook every play. we'll have more of a chance. ;)
Wow, Saints drop a gimme interception. Garcia has looked pretty horrible this first quarter, and the Saints have gotten good pressure.
The Cleveland-Detroit Garcia appears to be in da' house tonight. Scattershot.
"Garcia lost last 8 in domes". I bet most were with Matt Millen as his GM.
106-party line is because he doesnt fumble. I wishh someone could throw some stats that would make me change my mind on him.
Reggie Bush is sick sometimes...
considine is WAAAAAAY too easy to block.
Who's Wilma McNabb pulling for tonight?
That's the Reggie Bush I was expecting all year
Also, this Reggie Bush guy is pretty good. Where did he go to school?
Backside lineback really screwed up that play. He just ran into the side of the Saints tackle.
And nice pass to follow it up.
Mario Williams woulda tackled Bush for a loss on that play.
Oh my. N.O. begins to put on a show. Think Houston is reveling in the joy that is Ron Dayne as a starting running back right about now?
miller lite: world beer cup winner. hmmmm.
They have awards for crappy lite beers? Is it a different category than the one for light beers?
Wow, two huge plays in a row. But can someone punch it in the end zone?
FWIW, I actually like the Siragusa segments with the grounds crew. Seeing it acted out makes these things make a whole lot more sense than listening to him try to explain it. I would add that if the linemen need to move towards the line, then even if the DL don't move around pre-snap, they're still blocking from a different angle than they'd want, and could be more vulnerable to speed rushes from the edge.
That was about as perfect a deep ball as you're ever going to see.
Perhaps the first playoff weekend in which no touchdowns are scored by anyone.
Well, at least they didn't turn it over or spike themselves.
This is starting to look a little like the last game. Gonna be 5 field goals to 2 again?
Touchdowns are so 2006
Am I the only one who thinks "Considine" sounds like an evil corporation on 24?
"This week, Jack Bauer attempts to torture out a confession from the CEO of Considyne!"
Nine field goals, no touchdowns. I think I need more caffeine.
The Eagles offense better get cracking because the defense is doing its job.
By today's standards, that's an insurmountable lead.
Saints have the dropsies on offense AND defense. C'mon, now, I don't want someone to back into this win.
#136
You don't think LT is gonna get in at least once tomorrow?
And the Reno Mahe Award goes to Rod Hood
Re 140 - Either that or the evil corporation from the Terminator movies...
#145
although the pats are great against the run and one of the toughest red zone defenses in the league. So maybe not.
WTF was that, Garcia????
halfway to the over with #150!
Didn't see that coming
Yowza. 75 Yards !
Is that Field Turf or Mardi Grass?
Hey, the end zone! Thanks Fred Thomas!
WOO HOO!!!
150: As opposed to the game, which is no where near the over.
Nevermind.
Stallworth!
Plus excellent blocking to give Garcia time on that play...
WOOHOO!!!! I take back my earlier comment about not passing to Stallworth!
Wow. I did not see Garcia being able to put the ball in the air for 65 yards (from his spot behind the LOS, at least)
Thats why we keep throwing to Stallworth ...
I'm not sure what just happened. What does it mean when the guy with the ball gets past that line and the guy in the stripy shirt puts his arms up?
Isn't Garcia supposed to have a weak arm or something?
More hijinx from that whacky Fred Thomas!
Could someone please get Fred Thomas' flaming jockstrap off the field?
I was sans Mellencamp until now! Oh well, too good to be true.
This is our distric!
So THAT'S what one of those looks like!
This is our district!
Freaking "t" button...
A TD and Mellencamp. This means something.
garcia is one strong-armed heterosexual.
Call me crazy, but I actually like that Visa commercial. Although it's a total rip-off of the old Looney Tunes cartoons.
58 rushing yards--new saints postseason record
hahahahahaha
Reggie Bush would be great on Dancing with the Stars.
Man, Dhani Jones is everywhere. What the hell is going on here?
170 - I think it is suppossed to. Though I still want to strangle people who use credit cards instead of cash for purchases under 5 dollars. Starbucks coffee is expensive enough without paying 18% interested on it...
Re 172 - if Emmitt Smith can do it, I'd imagine Reggie could too. Hey, maybe Reggie could dance with Emmitt!
Dang. Like a hot knife through butter. The Saints should just keep handing to McCallister
Even my wife asked why they blitzed. I'd like to know how the refs missed to two blatant holds.
interest, not interested.
Man, I am losing it...
Garcia would be great on Dancing with the Stars. Get it, because he's gay. Hah, I'm hilarious.
174 - worse than that are people who use credit cards in the drive-through lane at McD's. That just irritates me to no end, especially since I'm usually the person stuck behind them when the credit-card machine goes down.
I'd become gay if it meant I got to date playboy playmates that would fight over me...
Speaking of gay: break up a pass, grab the recievers ass. In slow motion, too, thanks to Fox.
Re: 178
I don't think you have to keep making typos on purpose just to correct them and help us hit the over. There are enough irrelevant posts (like this one from me) to get us there anyway.
Nice to see the bad tackling's back.
Tackling? We don't need no stinking tackling.
Wow
This could get ugly really quickly if the Eagles can't sustain drives to tire out NO's defense.
Note to refs. When an O-lineman grabs a defensive player from behind, and then raises his hand as if to say "who, me?" it's a hold.
break out that old sign from the Yankees:
REG-GIE
REG-GIE
uh, was it that obvious that he got the ball into the end zone?
178 - My bad. Though I have a feeling we'll go over 300 without any of most posts. I see us hitting the 400 mark pretty easily, unless this becomes a blowout.
Time for Westbrook on the kickoff?
Isn't playoff season 5 weeks long? Wild card, divisional, championship, bye, superbowl. I guess we can't expect the Coors guys to know how to count.
Does it sound like that guy in the verizon commercial, reviewing gifts (you got the envy.... etc) at the end says, "dad got Hos..."? (I know its supposed to be "Hosed")...
If I hear the announcers explain Philidelphia's LBs doing a crap job of taking away the cutback as proof of Bush's amazing... amazingness, I am going to stab someone in the face.
Maybe they are counting the week before the first playoff game, too.
Karney blocked two guys to the inside to spring Bush. (I agree with 190 though, not sure the ball was in.)
Re: 191
I would have put the over/under at 400, at least.
is there a bye this year? Sometimes there isn't.
I'm actually surprised that most years they don't go without them. More likely for the weaker team to pull an upset, because the better team has less time to gameplan/excert their dominance. That would probably be better if the SB was closer. most tend to be blowouts.
And also, of course, I referenced back to my own post last time instead of 183.
188-combine that with some bad tackling and its gonna be a long game.
195 - I dunno, I don't think most running backs would be able to bounce that outside like Bush did.
Who Killed the Zutons?
Although the weakside linebacker for Philly has been eaten up on at least three plays that I have seen. Either he or the end need to do a better job of keeping contain(ment).
198: Bronco Nagurski didn't get no bye, and now he's dead. So I guess maybe they're a good thing.
"experience doesn't matter, its all about emotion"....
yeah, those efficient teams that just are methodical in marching down the field like clockwork, those teams don't have what it takes...
3rd-and-long is clearly the best situation for the Eagles tonight.
That play was made when the snap happened before they finished the blitz. 7 guys were moving forward at the snap, but only 5 were rushing. I think.
oh shit. reggie brown just had fred thomas tripping over himself. i'll take it.
I didn't realize it was possible for a CB to look as bad as Fred Thomas did on that last play.
The Super Bowl isn't about giving the weaker team a better chance to pull an upset. It is about money. A bye week means more time to hype the game, sell merchandise, spend time in the host city, etc., which all leads to more money being made by the various interested parties.
Fred Thomas would *not* be good on "Dancing with the Stars"
Does Fred Thomas go better with butter or margarine?
203 - Zounds! You did smite-le me mightly!
I miss having the Simpsons be funny...
205 - I think you're right
shit, did todd pinkston leave his legs in the locker room and baskett picked them up?
marko:you can check your cynicism at the door, mister... we're not buying. ;)
214: if so, the saints dbs stole his hands.
211: Vaseline.
It sucks.
No, Westbrook!! Don't drop something like that!!
And the dropsies come back. This team is going to make me old before my time.
His knee may have been down. but that view didn't show it. yet he said "yep".
Ok that second view showed it. Maybe he was watching a different view.
Everyone made such a big deal of Dungy and Manning's playoff record. But they all slept on Vinatieri's now 15-4 playoff record. And so did 31 other teams. (just kidding)
Note to announcers: Screen passes have blockers. No blockers, it's by definition not a screen pass.
This is ouuuuuur country.
I hate to see the Mora "Playoffs" byte cheapened like that.
Springs. He had springs.
harris:
we're eagles fans. our livers and kidneys are likely to fail at any time due to years of heartbreak, stress, anger and alcholism.
Leaping TD, Westbrook!
Nice TD by Westbrook. But did anyone notice the necklace on the chick in front of Lurie? Looked like Christmas ornaments on a string.
In his shoes? What are those called -moon shoes? Yay Brian!
I will never by a freakin' chevy. And I am a male, aged 18-39, so I am the so-called "super consumer". Hear me, Chevy, and pull those commercials!
And again, I still think Ford should come out with a commercial of people cleaning up trash on the side of the road and have some people arguing about how to fix potholes. This is our Municipality!
Holy effervescent semen, batman! What a leap!
228:
Not to mention our hearts - the shooting pains I get in my arms on game days can't be good.
Westbrook = Superman
for values of "tall buildings" to equal "piles of linemen"
194 - i actually thought he did say ho's, and wondered why he werent smiling (see post 29)
227,
Was that a gallipoli reference?
Shot through the heart and YOU'RE to blame. YOU give love a bad name.
I've always wondered in situations like this... if a guy tries to get out of bounds and can't, and flips the ball backwards out of bounds... does the clock stop?
238: Well, if his forward progress is stopped before he flips the ball, the clock keeps running.
That was gutsy
238,
So long as it's not a knock on, it should be kosher. Though I do wonder if there is some obscure penalty that says there must be a person you are trying to flip the ball to in order for it to be a legal lateral.
That was AWESOME.
Why is Philly taking a time out here? Isn't it to their advantage to let the clock run? Oh, nice trick play there, Saints.
...are you kidding me?
smart punter.
Wow, nice bounce off the line.
Re: #228
Yep. And that's why.
nice juke by weatherford - he looked like a real player
Oh, crap -- I'm watching on Tivo-delay ... woops.
Anybody else notice the clock has been totally malfunctioning? The Saints 3rd down play (before the punt/run) only took 1 second off the clock.
That's just a sweet adjustment from Weatherford, I don't care who you're pulling for.
I just realized that wasn't a fake punt. Or was it? I actually have no idea
No way that was a fake. Definitely not a trick play.
Okay, I just TiVo'd the first down and figured out what happened there. Jesus H. Christ.
Go for the 62 yarder!
Why don't they attempt a 60 yard field goal against the Eagles? I thought those were automatic.
did anyone else notice that on the brees sack before the fake punt the clock didn't start until brees went down? Eagles called a timeout and 1 second went off the clock.
Right, it wasn't a trick punt. None of the Saints were trying to block, they were all running down field as if the ball was punted.
i can't take much more of this.
256: Considering Weatherford now has more rushing yards than Westbrook, it boggles my mind why the Saints didn't try to kick that.
When it comes to the Eagles, the weird always finds it way into the game.
I just looked at the official pbp and they said the brees play started with 32s. Maybe all my yelling at the saints for wasting time not calling a timeout was unwarranted
The clock was messed up on every play, starting with that sack. But all the other plays after that too. It would start late and then run long and be adjusted every time.
#263
On the radio broadcast, they were saying that the Saints were trying to argue for a booth review, but the refs said 'no deal'.
The clock did seem to be running oddly--it would keep running when people went out of bounds or threw incomplete, and stop mysteriously for a few seconds after running plays. Hard to tell if that benefitted either team, though...
I hate terry bradshaw so much. What kind of name is terry for a guy, anyway? Is it short for Terrance? I want his bald head on a stick.
I still can't get used to Adam V in a Colts uni. He either needs to be in a Pats uniform or hocking Papa Ginos. anything else is just weird.
Re: 263
I agreed at first sight, but we didn't get a good enough replay to really tell.
Why would they put an American Idol commercial in the middle of a playoff game? Is this really their demographic?
Does that Hail Mary remind anyone of the controversial finish to the 1995 AFC title game with Harbaugh's failed pass?
I thought the same thing on the hail mary. I don't get why they don't review more of these plays in the booth. It doesn't hurt anything, and plays like that can have a huge effect on the game.
okay, so the local news is doing a spot on men waxing various parts of their body. I really need more bourbon.
you don't wax? we're all doing it. you need to get down to the salon right now!
And I'll file that one under "Things I never thought I'd learn on a football website"
What happened to the great running game the Eagles plucked from nowhere over the last few weeks? Seriously, I'm asking, because they were running the ball really well there for the last several games. NO seems to have shut it down almost completely tonight.
dang
WOW
And of course, as soon as I posted that, Westy ran for a sweet TD. I'm a moron.
Woooo!
Annnnd the Eagles are reverting to their early season offense of sprinkling in huge plays for TDs with lots of nothing.
"It's going to be harder to run in the second half." Bang.
That was the worst attempt at a tackle on a long run I've seen in a long time. Thank heavens..
Nice timing, #275.
how's that?
nice block by l.j. smith there.
Pat on the Back, did you graduate from Tulane?
Ladies and Germs... Da Iggles are good. All Pro Guard is out, backup in, 62
yard TD run.
you don't like the V-DUB! ads? i love 'em. the guy who does them is dutch, not german, tough.
Love to see the star from Logjammin' selling cars.
I was just getting down about Andrews being out before that TD.
Oh no, Mahe's hurt. Wait, I'm mean, that's terrific.
Does anyone know when Shawn Andrews got hurt? 62 yard TD run notwithstanding, it's a huge loss.
Now that was cool. (Painted ball w/numbers drill)
What happened to Andrews? I noticed he was out but somehow missed why.
The just said neck injury and doubtful.
Deuce !!
