The excellent Kevin Pelton of Basketball Prospectus fame has a great new post on his own "After the Buzzer" blog about the Washington Huskies' football defense. Using FEI and S&P, Kevin makes a compelling argument that defensive coordinator Nick Holt is as much the root cause of a defense that's falling apart as the defensive talent that's too young by necessity.

What a difference a week makes. While Cam Newton tried to survive the inevitable shaky sequel to his historic debut, the Seahawks may be looking for a re-do on youth over experience where it really counts.
Is Mario Williams really a weakside "endbacker", or has the Texans' 3-4 switch left him as the odd man out? And what's the deal with Von Miller, SAM linebacker? In the return of Cover-2, Doug Farrar finds out what's in a positional name.
Doug wrote this piece for the Maple Street Press Redskins Annual, which got cancelled due to the lockout. So instead, you get to enjoy his look at how the Redskins can scheme to get value from draft picks like Ryan Kerrigan and Leonard Hankerson.

In this week's episode: PK tells us why the Packers could be even better this year, why the Bears kept kicking off from the 30, why the Bills just did something stupid (again), and why Jay Cutler will be running for his life all season (again).
This week, PK takes us inside his training camp tour, explains how the Bills are now Wildcat-friendly, tells us that the Eagles could still be under the cap, asks Vinny Cerrato about personnel (no, really), reveals Kyle Williams' other athletic pursuits, and discusses who might be part of the Hall of Fame's 2012 class.
