Football Outsiders Almanac 2018 media: Steph Stradley asked me a few questions about the Houston Texans for her blog at the Houston Chronicle, and I answered them. Topics covered include the Texans as a whole, Deshaun Watson, and some things that may be surprising to people that watched Houston.

Success of Players by College Conference: Defense

Does the SEC produce more NFL defenders than other conferences? Yes. Does it produce the best NFL defenders? That's complicated.

Four Downs: AFC South

The Jaguars and Titans both won playoff games last year. Are the days of this division being the NFL's laughingstock over? Maybe not -- all four clubs failed to address critical weaknesses in the draft.

2012 NFL Draft: Six Years Later

The five quarterbacks taken in the first two rounds in 2012 combined to win zero games in 2017. Meanwhile, two third-rounders have won Super Bowls, and a fourth-rounder just got an $84 million contract. Let's look back at how that went down.

Titans Part with HC Mike Mularkey

First reported by Field Yates of ESPN and subsequently confirmed by the team, the Tennessee Titans have parted ways with head coach Mike Mularkey. Mularkey became the interim coach following the firing of Ken Whisenhunt mid-season 2015 and was named the permanent head coach after a rubber-stamp process that offseason because of the work he did in going 2-7. He posted a record of 9-7 both seasons and went 1-1 in the playoffs this year. (Click to read more.)

Giants Fire HC McAdoo, GM Reese

The New York Giants cleaned house Monday morning, firing head coach Ben McAdoo and general manager Jerry Reese.

McAdoo led the Giants to a playoff spot in his first season as head coach last year, but yesterday's loss to the Raiders dropped this version of the Giants to 2-10. That alone would be one thing, but a season of clubhouse drama, performances with dismal apparent effort, and the mishandling of Eli Manning's benching proved too much.

Broncos Fire OC Mike McCoy

This morning the Denver Broncos announced they had fired offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, and he will be replaced by quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrave. McCoy was hired this offseason by new head coach Vance Joseph, and found generation offense much more difficult with Trevor Siemian and Brock Osweiler than it had been with Peyton Manning in his previous tenure with the team. The Broncos ranked 25th in offensive DVOA before yesterday's 20-17 loss to the Bengals after ranking 28th in offensive DVOA last year.

Zeke Elliott Suspension: Back Off For Now

As if Monday evening wasn't busy enough in the NFL already, we got the decision we were waiting for out of the Southern District of New York. Ezekiel Elliott's application for a preliminary injunction against his six-game suspension was rejected, so it's back on again. Tonight's order was stayed for 24 hours to allow parties to pursue appellate options. The story is not completely over, but we should now be very close to the time the Cowboys play games without their top running back.

Bengals Fire OC Zampese

The day after they became the first team since the 1939 Philadelphia Eagles to play their first two games at home and not score a touchdown in either contest, the Cincinnati Bengals today fired offensive coordinator Ken Zampese. Zampese was in his second year as the Bengals' offensive coordinator, replacing Hue Jackson, and his fifteenth year in the organization. Quarterbacks coach Bill Lazor replaces him and will be tasked with improving Andy Dalton's play and camouflaging what looks like one of the league's worst offensive lines.
