As a Cowboys fan that's been in the Bay Area for a while, I'd love it if Dallas could get him and wave bye to Brooking, keep him around as a cheerleader or something. Ware-Morrison-CardboardCutout-Spencer isn't a bad corps is it? Plus we have like 40 fucking million dollars lying around, right? Oh wait...

What does being in the Bay Area have to do with it? It's not like you can watch Morrison here. ;)

In all seriousness, I think Bradie James is probably a better player than Morrison. And with Ware and Spencer, you can have two cardboard cutouts and have a decent linebacking core. Morrison would be better than Brooking though.

The Giants do have a rather large hole at MLB right now...

Is there any reason to think that Karlos Dansby is better than this guy, except for environmental factors?

There's that whole thing called pass defense, which Dansby is really good at and Morrison... isn't. Also, I'd be skeptical of a guy who racked up big (run stopping) stats on such a poor run defense for years.

Why? Those are defeats, not tackles. If he's forcing the offense to have that many unsuccessful plays, that's good no matter what kind of defense he's on. In fact, it's more impressive on a crappy defense.

Check out the company he's in.

The best part of the Raiders' day is not that they put an original-round tender on Kirk Morrison. The best part of the Raiders' day is that they put the highest possible tender on reserve cornerback Stanford Routt.

We're seeing a lot of tenders already and I feel its the start of a flood.

Miami put them on Fasano, Brown and their fullback whose name eludes me. None of them will get picked up at that price, and none of them will make what they would have made if the club picked up their option normally.

This is owner-gm heaven.

S Routt exclelent nickelcorner. Nothing wrong with tender put on him. many temas operate with regular 3 wr sets. therefore Raiders need 3 good corners. got thtta with N Asomugha, C Johnson, and S Routt. very good and depenable cornerbeacking group. rest of elague jealous

Sorry Joe. My impression is that Routt does better as a standard CB than as a nickel. As I see it, the best nickel back on the team is Huff. I would love to know what Willie Brown told Al about Routt. At age 27 he has to have a real chance of displacing Chris Johnson to be worth the 1st and 3rd tender. I just don't see that.

And improving the Raiders' pass D means improving the rush, not hanging on to Routt. It would be better to tag him with a pick that makes him attractive. Get another young body into the D.

Alas, Morrison moves backwards too much on contact with runners. He is not good enough at pass defense to make up for that. He does get to a real bunch of plays though. But can you say that he is what is needed at MLB when the run defense has such problems?

With that many defeats, why not? Maybe you want to replace him with one of the three guys who has more defeats than he does?

As a long-time Raiduh fan, I'm on a real tailspin right now. We draft like shit and we make F/A decisions like shit...lucky we have Tom Cable (dripping sarcasm) to make it all fit together and keep us on the right track.

I'm amazed at the thought process here...Routt will get 3.6 mil because no one their right mind will sign him for the cost of a 1st and a 3rd. And say goodbye to Morrison...a cheap pickup for a 3rd round pick. The Raiduhs obviously know more than I do though because I would have resigned him and moved him to OLB and found a true run stopping MLB. But I guess 100+ tackles a year don't mean what they used to anymore.

Gradkowski, while I would have kept him, I would not have placed a 2nd round tender on him. I would love to get him back, however at less than the 1.7 mil he will make after he gets through the signing period with no offer sheets.

I am now really looking forward to the upcoming draft (more dripping sarcasm) as I'm sure Al will probably draft a kicker or punter in the 1st round.

I haven't watched the Raiders much but the 2009 numbers for Morrison seem pretty fluky compared with 2006-08.

This is actually pretty easy to figure out. Routt was a track star at my alma mater (Houston), Morrison is not a track star. Al has clearly convinced himself that his team will be allowed to compete at the next Olympics as the United Raider Nation. It really does explain everything
