Rams Place Greg Zuerlein on IR

Most kicker injuries wouldn't warrant an Extra Point. Greg Zuerlein isn't most kickers.

The Los Angeles Rams have placed Zuerlein on injured reserve with a herniated disc. His season is over. Sam Ficken -- who last kicked in a competitive football game with the Penn State Nittany Lions in 2014 -- was signed as a replacement.

Zuerlein leads the NFL in both field goals and extra points this season. Of course, he also leads the league in attempts in both categories as well, but he has been very accurate this year, going 38-of-40 on field goals and 44-of-46 on PATs. The Rams have scored 15.1 points more than expected this season, second behind Justin Tucker and the Ravens (+16.5). Otherwise, though, Zuerlein's advanced stats haven't always matched up to his reputation -- the Rams actually scored fewer points than expected in 2014 and 2015. He has been middle of the pack on kickoffs in each of the last three years.

Prater is 31 of 39 from 50+ since 2012. Tucker is 33 of 47.

Zuerlein is 24 of 42. He does have a longer average distance than Prater or Tucker, but probably experienced easier kicking conditions, on average, than both. The difficulty rank is probably Tucker > Prater > Zuerlein. Tucker mostly kicks outdoors at sea level; Prater spent two years in Denver and the rest in Detroit, and Zuerlein almost always kicks indoors or at elevation.

I'm not sure why you binned your search at the 37 yard line, either, the 33 would have been more appropriate for 50+, being as the spot plus end zone is usually worth 17 yards. That said, PFR lets you specifically search for field goals.
