Tanier seems like he's having an off-year. Or maybe I just can't get past his backwards and uninformed Kirk Cousins takes.

Tanier is a great writer, but I've never been all that impressed with the quality of his analysis. He reminds me of a standup comedian whose excellent delivery masks the fact that his material is no better than average.

I always thought of him as a more talented and smarter Bill Simmons. He's incredible at writing about the experience of being a fan. His football analysis always seemed fine to me, but kind of damning with faint praise when you consider how bad the average sports writer is. Though I have to admit, I haven't read his stuff nearly as often after Grantland.
