Lions trade S Q.Diggs to Seahawks

With Lano Hill and Bradley McDougald injured and Tedric Thompson underwhelming, the Seahawks had a need at safety. So they acquired Diggs, who has started each of his last 26 games for Detroit. He did miss the Week 6 game against Green Bay with a hamstring injury.

The trade deadline is not till next week, but there may not be any trade targets left by then.

1 Sounds like the Lions…

Sounds like the Lions players are kind of shocked about this. He isn't just a starter, he was one of their team captains.

2 As far as play on the field,…

As far as play on the field, he was good in run support, and a hard hitter, but kind of a liability in coverage.  The Lions are pretty deep at safety with younger and cheaper players.  However, he was a locker room leader, and this will not be good for morale.  Not sure if a 5th rounder is worth giving that up.

I’m amazed at how much Lions fans are freaking about this trade.  They’re acting like Diggs is Ed Reed, or something.  Sure he hits hard, but he has not been good this year.  The Lions pass defense has actually been worse when he was on the field.  He had two particularly bad plays against the Vikings.  He was out of position on the Theilen touchdown, and made a really poor tackle attempt on the Rudolph touchdown.  I bet that was the last straw for Patricia.

5 trade deadline

"The trade deadline is not till next week, but there may not be any trade targets left by then"

Only because Bruce Allen is still dumb enough to think Trent Williams isn't serious

7 Lions seem to have a bit of…

Lions seem to have a bit of a buy in issue, based on some social media reaction. If the team cant make trades to try and better themselves because of players' inter-personal relationships, that may make their life harder.

Or maybe it just helps them to figure out who needs to be traded away next.
