Harrison Smith Gets Paid

The Minnesota Vikings have made their defensive star the second-highest paid safety in the league. Harrison Smith has signed a four-year, $64-million extension that includes over $26 million in guarantees. Only Seattle's Jamal Adams has a higher average salary at the position.
Smith, who turned 32 in February, has missed only six starts in the last seven seasons. A five-time Pro Bowler and former first-team All-Pro, Smith was among the top 10 safeties in defeats last year.

It's the only explanation, but I don't get it, really, either. All I have is that guys like Jared Allen, Kevin Williams and Adrian Peterson have all spoken very highly of their treatment in their last years with the team.
