NFL Week 10 - Reports are now in that Odell Beckham will sign with the Los Angeles Rams. It's a good signing for him if he wants to compete for a championship, but how many targets are there for him in that Rams offense that has other excellent receivers such as Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods? I wonder if whatever he does with those targets is really going to build his case to be paid significantly as a free agent in 2022. Remember, DeSean Jackson just asked to be released by the Rams because he wasn't getting enough targets. It's a good addition for the Rams but again, given their depth, I don't think it hugely moves their Super Bowl odds.

2 Ehh

Jefferson. , Woods, kupp good trio. Where does belchum fit in? Jefferson banished to sideline nrpobably.

Do bro want Rans to win Suoer Bowl since horrible uniforms will be seen as magical and tema will be stuck with them for many years like dopey Broncos uniforms and flying Elvis Pates lids. The Raiders winning the Suoer Bowl will save us all.

3 The Chiefs seem like they…

The Chiefs seem like they need a better no.2 more than the Rams. But Gordon and OBJ together might be too much WR Crazy for one team

10 Exactly

This is why I'm happy he's not going to the Packers. He'd be the fourth option in GB after Adams, Jones, and Dillon. Possibly fifth after MVS. His dad would be complaining Rodgers isn't throwing his son the ball regardless of coverage while Rodgers would roll his eyes to the back of his head after every OBJ drop.

Such nonsense. Every Packer player wanted him on the team. You're just playing yourself to make yourself feel better

6 It should be pointed out…

It should be pointed out that for all the intense criticism Dave Gettleman got for trading away Beckham, he won that trade in a rout. Got a 1, and 3, and a starter on a rookie contract for a guy who wasn't even worth his contract.

7 IIRC most of the criticism…

IIRC most of the criticism centered around the Giants just having extended Beckham, paying him a huge signing bonus in the process.

In hindsight it looks like they read the situation perfectly and got out handsomely from under a bad contract for a volatile player. But more than anything I think injuries have slowed Beckham, which is just a risk when extending any player. At the time he was regarded as one of the best receivers in the game, the type of whom rarely come on the market.

Recent drafts have also been rich with premium receiver talent, which possibly taints our view of how 'replaceable' Beckham now looks.

11 Surprised at any fan love for OBJ

Basically a replacement receiver for 2020-2021 run out of town in Cleveland, looks like addition by subtraction, for Rams could be subtraction by addition.

But more than fan love, actual GM love, I guess Rams gave up nothing and can cut him if he does not work out.

EDIT:  Incredibly Woods now out for season a few days later, Rams had no way of knowing, this now looks like a worthwhile flyer to take.

13 Puh lease pt 2

Talent is always needed. Woods just tore his ACL same day that OBJ chose the Rams. They probably saw it wasn't good and know OBJ has a high ceiling

14 I'm not convinced Beckham…

I'm not convinced Beckham has any talent.  He seems to have been trading off his first two years in NY since.  I always get the vibe from him that he really wants to be a movie star or rapper, and he's doing this football thing until he gets his big break.

I would have been legitimately pissed had the Patriots signed him and thrown a guy whose maintenance far outweighs his talent in the room with a rookie QB.

15 Puh lease pt 3

The 1st rounder, 3x pro bowler, 5x 1k yards was only talented his first two years. Yeah ok.

A lot of yall letting your character assassination cloud your vision. Who cares what funky vibe you get from him when you know nothing about him personally but ignore all the love the players and teammates give him. No basis for your weak feels here.

16 What?  A first rounder?  Oh…

In reply to by ImNewAroundThe…

What?  A first rounder?  Oh OK.  That proves it.  Ryan Leaf and Troy Williamson must still be good too.  Quick -- sign Kyle Boller!

3 Pro Bowls?  Those popularity contests?  OK.

1,000 yard seasons?  In this era of football, a 1000 yard season is pretty good for your #2 WR.

Players fall into the same trap we do of judging players by their highlights from x number of games ago.  Especially the ones who have never been in a locker room with him.

Beckhams production hasn't matched his reputation for a loooooong time, and the only basis I have is my two eyeballs on Sunday afternoons.

I mean, it doesn't cost the Rams much so fine....until he starts demanding that he be targeted more often.  Which has happened repeatedly during his career.

17 Puh lease pt 4

If you think he was only good his first two years you're surely just not being objective. Hilarious you just explained all those away.

His grades per year -

2014: 90.8 (PB, 1305 rec yards, 938 for next highest)

2015: 88.1 (PB, 1450 yards, 797 for next)

2016: 87 (PB, 1367, led league Y/Tch, 683 for next)

2017: 69.2 (hurt, highest only 731)

2018: 90 (how did you miss this one? But yeah PB is purely popularity, even though it's made up of people...like you and me (biased like everyone else)! Dude had >1k in 12 games w/Eli Manning!!!! And 2nd on the team couldn't even reach 900 despite getting 4 games w/o him to rack up more targets, so much for just a WR2)

2019: 68.7 (1035, 1174 highest)

2020: 75.3 (hurt, highest 840)

2021: 66.4 (hurt, highest so far, a TE for 352)

(As if teams have never started more than 1 WR to boot lol (even though you're clearly overestimating, but go ahead and make a false equivalent to Leaf as if he was EVER good in the NFL)

Your eye balls are why numbers exist because they all see what you want to see. Just like you somehow see the made up argument of him wanting more targets as if you know him (when it seems more clear that it's his targets weren't good being the reason).
