Trent Williams Out One Month With High Ankle Sprain

NFL Week 3 - As the San Francisco 49ers begin their transition back to Jimmy Garoppolo, they'll have to do so without one of the best left tackles in football. According to KNBR, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan announced Monday that left tackle Trent Williams suffered a high-ankle sprain during San Francisco's Sunday night matchup with the Denver Broncos. Williams is expected to miss four to six weeks with the injury.
Williams, in his third season with the 49ers, was continuing an elite stretch of tackle play. Through his first two games of the 2022 season, Williams allowed just two blown blocks on 137 snaps, according to Sports Info Solutions. Williams was replaced by Jaylon Moore for the remainder of the game, who started three of his five appearances in 2021, allowing a blown block rate of 2.3%.
Through the first two games of 2022, San Francisco ranked 12th in adjusted sack rate.
Williams signed a six-year, $138-million deal with the 49ers in 2021, tying him to the franchise through 2026.
