NFL Offseason - "Arizona Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill is accused of gross misconduct, including cheating, discrimination and harassment, in an arbitration claim filed Tuesday by former Cardinals executive Terry McDonough to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell," writes Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.

"McDonough maintained that both he and former Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks were left no choice but to follow Bidwill's plan to use burner phones to communicate with former Arizona general manager Steve Keim while Keim was serving a five-week suspension after pleading guilty to extreme DUI in Arizona."

"McDonough said he still has the phone, which he said contains the evidence of the cheating scandal, as well as additional documentation."

Schefter later adds: "McDonough also accused Bidwill of sabotaging Wilks' first opportunity as an NFL head coach before he fired him at the end of his one season on the job. McDonough said Bidwill has continued to 'demote and harass' him since summer 2018."

McDonough also accused Bidwill of treating "a Black employee and two pregnant women poorly and '[creating] an environment of fear for minority employees.'"

The Cardinals responded with a 1,488-word statement released not on the team's website, nor at NFL.com, but through something called Counterpoint Strategies that advertises "Strategic Communications, Crisis Management, Media Accountability." The statement, attributed to "Jim McCarthy, external public relations advisor to the Cardinals," denies all of McDonough's allegations while accusing him of poor performance, neglection of his duties, and domestic violence. (It also refers to McDonough repeatedly as "Terry" while only referring to Arizona's owner as "Mr. Bidwill." Make of that what you will.)

McDonough's response to that statement, as reported by Stewart Mandel of The Athletic: "Everything Michael Bidwill said is a lie. I am bringing all the proof and truth with me to arbitration."

Well then. I'm curious to see what the evidence is.

This is quite funny and/or absurd. Could i start a company whose mission would be to strategically defame people? Or do you have to have a lot of experience at it like this Jim McCarthy?

This is so typical of the American Rich Person Grift Apologist mindset that we literally see press releases like this every day. My mind skipped right over it until you pointed it out because the template is so common that it was like a search-and-replace for <insert bullshit here>.

All you need is a law degree.

(I do particularly like "neglection" of his duties)

(for some reason this refuses to post where it's supposed to, in reply to Guest from Europe)

So it's a Saul Goodman-type of job?

Saul could have been a real pillar of society like his brother if he had done his business with inheritance billionaires with ties to Al Capone instead of doing with narcos.

I just had to check both of my hard-copy dictionaries, neither of which lists neglection. However, Merriam-Webster's online version shows it as a synonym for neglect. In any event, I have a law degree and never heard anyone use that word till now.

I also have a law degree and have never heard that word before. We aren't to blame for everything.
