NFL Week 18 - The Cleveland Browns have dismissed defensive coordinator Joe Woods, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Woods was hired as a member of Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski's original staff upon joining the team in 2020. Cleveland improved from a 7.4% defensive DVOA Woods' first year to a -2.5% DVOA in 2021, earning Myles Garrett his second-straight first-team All-Pro nod while sending Garrett and Denzel Ward to the Pro Bowl.

The Browns defensively took a step back in 2022 despite maintaining their level of talent on the defensive roster. Cleveland finished 20th in points allowed while ranking 29th in run defense DVOA. While the Browns slightly improved in adjusted sack rate, Cleveland generated nine fewer sacks year-over-year.
