NFL Conference Championship - According to a report from NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Dolphins will hire Vic Fangio as defensive coordinator and make him the highest-paid coordinator in the league.

Fangio was the head coach of the Denver Broncos from 2019 to 2021 and previously held defensive coordinator positions with the San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears. He most recently served as a defensive consultant for the Philadelphia Eagles this past season.

While his teams in Denver never finished higher than 13th in defensive DVOA, Fangio has produced four seasons with top-five finishes in defensive DVOA. The Fangio-led 2018 Chicago Bears finished the season with a league-leading minus-25.4% defensive DVOA.

The Miami Dolphins finished 15th in defensive DVOA this season, posting a 25th-ranked 12.4% defensive passing DVOA and a fourth-best -17.5% defensive rushing DVOA.

Not at all who I expected.  Thought we'd get a McDaniel buddy, instead we get a greybeard.

He's a bigger name than I expected to take that job. I assume he's tasked with finding a bag of CB health points.

Old man moves to Florida. How is this news?

j/k, fantastic hire. I don't like this world where the Jets and Dolphins seem to be making more smart decisions than foolish ones.

Yes, firing Boyer was a gamble, but on paper it paid off. Biggest problem with team is a scarcity of resources both in cap and draft picks.

IIRC he's probably a pretty good DC, so seems like a decent hire.
