Falcons Land Former Bengals S Jessie Bates

NFL Offseason - The Atlanta Falcons are set to sign former Cincinnati Bengals safety Jessie Bates III to a four-year, $64.02 million contract, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Bates will receive $23 million in the first year of his contract and $36 million over his first two seasons. The deal makes Bates the fourth highest-paid safety in the league.
In 2022, Bates allowed just nine completions and 6.2 yards per target on 40.9% completion, all of which were career bests. His seven pass breakups and four interceptions mean Bates broke up more passes than he allowed this season. Over five seasons with Cincinnati, Bates recorded 33 pass breakups and 14 interceptions, according to Sports Info Solutions.
Bates joins an Atlanta Falcons defense that finished 30th in total defensive DVOA and 29th in defensive passing DVOA.

Great young player. One of the top free agents. He gave Chiefs a lot of problems in coverage.
Why did the Bengals let both of their safeties go? D.J. Reader and those safeties made their defense. They were the main pieces for Anarumo to move around, change coverage type etc..
