2019 Football Outsiders Awards

Welcome to the 17th annual Football Outsiders Reader Awards balloting. Readers get to have their say in categories both conventional -- like MVP or Rookie of the Year -- and unconventional. We've got the "Keep Choppin' Wood" award for worst player of the year, awards for underrated and overrated players, and of course the "John Mellencamp Must Die" award for most annoying commercial.

As usual, we've made an executive decision not to include multiple players from the same team in any of the categories. We don't want to create a situation where any team has to split votes and thus a good candidate is denied the award.

This year, we've split the offensive MVP award into two categories. Analytics suggest strongly that no player at any other position can possibly be as valuable to his team as a quarterback. The league MVP award is primarily a quarterback award at this point, and based on analytics it should only be a quarterback award. So we've left the MVP voting to quarterbacks and we have a second category for offensive player of the year, non-QB.

Please refrain from writing things like "I don't know" or joke answers such as retired players. If you don't want to answer a question, leave it blank. Those joke answers make compiling the results take a lot of extra time and we would rather be doing something else.

If you enter two names in any of the open questions (other than offensive lineman, which asks for two names) we will not count your answer. We won't count answers for "any player on team X" or "any fullback" or some such thing.

Only ballots with at least half the questions answered will be counted in this year's awards.

Since we've been asked this question, we'll clarify: Please base your voting on the 2019 regular season only, not the playoffs.
