» 2017 Adjusted Games Lost

Two NFC teams were hit hardest by injuries last year. One already set the AGL record in 2016, while the other has a coach with the worst AGL since 2002. Also: the Rams' incredible bill of health in L.A., and Tampa Bay's questionable injury reporting.

Seventh Day Adventure: Podcasting the Bowls

by Vinny Gauri and Russell Levine

In the spirit of the inaugural Texas and New Mexico Bowls, we're debuting a new feature this week, the first-ever Seventh Day Adventure podcast.

Why a podcast? With 32 games in three weeks, we had to do something or risk losing our already tenuous grasps on our day jobs. Plus, Russell harbors a long-held dream of becoming the next Joe Benigno.

You can listen online by clicking the play button below, or download the podcast for later by clicking the MP3 icon beneath the player. And since we hope to bring you more podcasts in the coming weeks, go ahead and click the "Subscribe Free" link to automatically receive future episodes through iTunes. Come on, you know you want to!

Oh, good, I have something to listen to while watching MNF tonight.

by Zac (not verified) :: Mon, 12/18/2006 - 7:04pm

I'm still listening to this, but I just wanted to say that you guys sound really good for your first podcast.

Geez, could the NY Sun's pages be any shorter? I don't remember them being that bad in the past.

by Zac (not verified) :: Mon, 12/18/2006 - 7:29pm

I do have to remember to stop refreshing the page while I'm listening however.

Keep the papajohns.com Bowl. I'm watching the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl Presented By BRIDGESTONE.

Poor planning on my part. I still don't have one of those arm straps for my iPod, so no SDA tonight ...

I heard Garrett Wolfe was considering sitting out the first series against TCU just in case Detroit scouts were at the game.

(not really. But it's plausible, isn't it?)

by Julian (not verified) :: Tue, 12/19/2006 - 4:44am

Wolfe sitting out? Defintely not.

If anything, this is his best chance to shine since the Ohio St.-NIU matchup in the national spotlight since it's the first Bowl game of the season.

What he does at San Diego will signifcantly impact his draft stock value barring any amazing/horrible Combine performance.

Where was this before I had to make my Bowl Pool picks?

by Bill (not verified) :: Wed, 12/20/2006 - 12:36am

If through three quarters, you have 56 total yards, 62 of which are on one play... you might be overmatched in your bowl.

Reggie Ball has been suspended for GA Tech's bowl game. I'm wondering what this does to the Vegas line. Will this be the first time in history that a team's odds actually improve when their starting QB is suspended?

by Russell Levine :: Thu, 12/21/2006 - 1:14pm

I actually am starting to feel bad for Reggie Ball. It's almost merciful that grades are going to spare him from one more public humiliation.

by Russell Levine :: Fri, 12/22/2006 - 9:03am

Those Oregon uniforms were even worse than Vin described ... as was their effort vs. BYU.

by Rocco (not verified) :: Fri, 12/22/2006 - 9:18pm

No matter how hard I try, I can't get excited for Troy-Rice. I'm sorry. I gave it my all.

I agree with you to some extent re: Ball- it's not his fault entirely that Chan Gailey seems clueless. Most coaches wouldn't force a QB to aimlessly throw deep when it's obvious the guy can't do it and instead would focus their offense around their amazing WR. Still, I don't feel entirely sorry for him- he makes enough mistakes on his own.

FWIW, I enjoyed the podcast, but it's a little weird. I prefer reading it- I can read it in less time than it takes listening to you guys, which suits my short attention sp- hey, wait, something shiny!

Anybody catch the crazy switch between the Hawaii DTs in ASU's first series? They each did some kind of Eskimo roll to switch places. I've never seen anything like it. Reeks of Jerry Glanville.

by Kal (not verified) :: Mon, 12/25/2006 - 1:38am

Hawaii's offense is just absurd. 600 yards of total offense? 480 passing? Why don't more teams use this offensive style? I mean, it's not just the talent that Hawaii has; they've got average to good receivers and QBs. This has to be a system, but what a system!

Where is everyone? Is this not the thread for discussing all the bowl games? I want to talk about how the only person dumber than the UCLA return man who knocked the ball out of bounds at the 3-yard line is the official who was standing right there and didn't see it.

(And yes, it's really me, even though the text isn't red.)
