Peter King's All-Time Dream Team

Oh, boy. This is going to spark some discussion. Sports Illustrated has a whole feature this week -- no idea if it is online only, or in the magazine as well -- where a leading writer for each sport picks three Dream Teams: One for history, one for now, one for the future. To be honest, I think the "all-current" team is boring -- it isn't like Peter King is the only guy who picks a current All-Pro team. The other two are more interesting, and each deserves its own XP discussion.

Aaron Schatz on the BS Report

Long awaited... Bill Simmons and yours truly discuss Pro Football Prospectus, WBRU, why the league should sell coaches' film to fans, possible sleeper teams for 2007, and how on earth a Patriots fan (me) could be such a Peyton Manning defender, even before Super Bowl XLI. This turned out to be the longest BS Report ever, it probably comes out as an hour or even more. Great fun. My one regret is that we went elsewhere when he asked about teams we were wrong about last year, and I never did get to talk about the Colts defense in the playoffs.

READ: Two Questions about Premium

Here is a response to two questions we've received regarding FO Premium.

First, we know about the problem where links that were supposed to go to the Premium Database didn't actually go there. This now should be fixed. You need to log into the store first, but then it will know you have the Premium access, and it will take you to the database.

PFP Mailbag: Where Did the San Diego Hurries Go?

We open the "new" Extra Points with this mailbag question about PFP 2007: The Chargers led the league in sacks, but were only 28th in Adjusted Hurry Percentage. Is there any explanation for such a wide variance? (Click link to read more.)

2 Arizona Starters Hurt vs. Raiders, May Miss Year

Everybody off the Arizona bandwagon! (Well, those of you who were still on the Arizona bandwagon after reading PFP 07.) Linebacker Chike Okeafor and right tackle Oliver Ross both tore muscles and probably are gone for the year. Ross was likely going to lose a job battle with first-round pick Levi Brown, but the Cardinals have now gone from very little offensive line depth to no offensive line depth. Okeafor's versatility was a big part of the Cardinals' decision to switch full-time to a 3-4 scheme, and now the Cardinals are depending on inexperienced Darryl Blackstock.

The 100 Greatest Quarterbacks of the Modern Era

This is quite impressive. A poster over on ArmchairGM ("Davis21wylie," real name unknown) has put together this extensive list of the greatest quarterbacks in modern NFL history with a method that sort of combines FO theories with some of the stuff that Sean Lahman was doing with the original version of PFP from five years ago. (Three or four of you might actually know of that book's existence.) The article is colossal, along the lines of my "best X seasons" articles in PFP instead of what you would expect from an Internet post.
