Another Lineman Down In Seattle

Our optimistic forecast for the Seahawks was based in part on a return to health for the offensive line. Then guard Mike Wahle retired after failing to recover from offseason shoulder surgery. Then tackle Walter Jones underwent another round of arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. Though the surgery was deemed successful, Jones will likely miss the first two weeks of the regular season. (Right tackle Sean Locklear moved to left tackle in Jones' place in Saturday night's exhibition game against Denver, and gave up two sacks and a false start in one half.) Now comes word that center Chris Spencer "hurt his left quadriceps muscle" against Denver and will be out indefinitely, pending an MRI.

UPDATE: Spencer will be out four to six weeks with a second-degree tear of his left quad.

Soooo... Should I just take Julius Jones off my draft board?

If I'm not mistaken, the next KUBIAK update eliminates Seattle's running game altogether. ;-)

Look at it this way, maybe the Rams will meet their projections.

Jones should still be out in Seattle's first game vs the Rams. C'mon +1150.

So, does this basically eliminate all Seahawks from our fantasy teams? I have Jones on both of mine already, and Hasselback on another... should I go ahead and dump, or is this too early?

Wondering the same thing. Lucky for me, Hasselbeck's just my back up. I'm sure Kurt Warner (the Iron Man) won't get hurt this year.

So Julius Jones is going to be the Adrian Peterson of Loser League?

Last year, it was Seahawks wideouts. This year, it's offensive lineman. Any guesses on next year?

Strength and training coaches?

Check FOA. Last year it was the wideouts AND the offensive line.

Next year, instead of a blanket, I think the Seahawks should get a special, blue, rasberry flavor, liter bottle of Pepto Bismol and send that with my season tickets. They can put a picture of Dave Krieg on it.

Lighten up. You guys make it sound like good offensive line play is crucial to an offense. In fact, we all know from listening to pundits & studio "analysts" that offenses score because one team "just wants it more" or because a skill position player is "simply a freak out there".

So Seattle will be just fine if they want it more and if Julius Jones acts like a freak.

WRONG! Seattle sucked last year because Mike Holmgren mailed it in. Unfortunately, these injuries just prove that Mora is mailing it in, too.

Seems like Seattle are doing their best to emulate Jacksonville's last season. Hint for Seattle fans: it doesn't end well. :(
