SITE NEWS: Loser League 2009 Is Here!

The time has come for the fantasy football game where you'll spend all Sunday hoping for a second reception: Loser League 2009. Everything is ready to rock, so go ahead and create your team now. Deadline is Saturday night. Remember: If you choose someone on Tennessee or Pittsburgh who has a bad opening night, nothing guarantees they will properly suck for the next eight weeks afterward.

To take Quinn & Anderson and hope the Browns suck as badly as I think, or to pick one and take Russell or Bradford? Decisions, decisions...

Phil Simms is a Cretin.

I noticed that Adrian Peterson (MIN) and Steve Smith (NYG) are both missing. I assume it's some database requirement that you guys can't have two players with the same name in the system? You probably picked the right Peterson to include, but can I suggest including New York's Smith instead of Carolina's?

You never know, Carolina Smith may have one more punch left in him ...

Donnie Avery and the Saints' Mike Bell (expected to start Week 1) are also missing, along with Mike Nugent. I assume in the latter case, picking Matt Bryant will get you Bucs' Team Kicker, like last year.

Those players should all be set in the fixed version.

*thumbs up*

I just signed up (Team ID #1), so apparently it works now.

The link was briefly there when first put up, then you can see people had trouble so they took it away (it now points to the main FO page).

The link will be changed when they feel it is ready (which was obviously not yesterday's "today".

Some people who got the link while it was there initially might have bookmarked it, thus that's probably how Snowglare was able to sign up.

I was able to find it... but not sure they'd appreciate me linking it. I'm sure it will be posted when ready. At this point you'd only risk creating a corrupt team if its still broken.

Its not like getting your team in early is gonna provide any benefits, they don't cut off signups or anything, and all players available will still be there.

Plus, if one of your picks goes and gets cut or placed on IR between now and when the link goes up, you'd be screwed. Its in your benefit to decide who you want then wait as long as possible before the deadline to sign up, just to be able to find out about any such events...

Not that I expect a lot of players from TEN or PIT on Loser League rosters, but shouldn't we need to set rosters by 8:30 PM Eastern on Thursday night?

Sorry if this is stupid, but how do you sign up? When I go to "Loser League" on the FO header all I get is last year's weekly rankings.

Clicking on the link at the top of this XP puts you to the Rules page, where you can review the rules and find a link to set up your team.

Thanks! I knew it was right under my nose somewhere...

So... my team didn't go through?

by DavidL :: Wed, 09/09/2009 - 8:37pm

I can't seem to register a team with an apostrophe in the name, because it gives SQL a fit.

Someone forgot to handle them... your text is being put into a string delimited by single quotes, thus causing the error. Normally you strip/replace/escape them out, but if not...try using the reverse quote... i.e., ` instead of '.

Russell, Sanchez, Quinn, Edwards... Why do all the likely-to-be-great-Loser QBs have Week 9 BYEs??
