ESPN's Joe Schad reports that Mangino has accepted a buyout from Kansas.
This certainly wasn't unexpected, but it is an interesting development for the 2007 National Coach of the Year. He has had some well-documented anger issues -- particularly with referees -- in previous years. This year, he faced allegations that he humiliated players on the field and even poked and grabbed them.
The school conducted an investigation, and the buyout was "satisfactory to all parties," according to the report.
Assistant coaches David Beaty, Clint Bowen and Bill Miller will share interim coaching duties until the season is over.

The question is not whether Saquon Barkley is the best running back in this draft class. The question is whether any running back, even one as good as Barkley, warrants a top-five draft selection in the NFL in 2018.

Blueberries everywhere weep blue tears of bluesy-ness.
Here's to him moving onto a school with anything neon or orange. All-white would probably look pretty awesome too.

There was a sensational hash tag started on Twitter which was #manginomotivationals and built on EDSBS' hilarious ideas on what Mangino may have used to motivate players.
Please read if you are having an average day- it'll make you smile

Of the three most portly coaches in college football - unless there is one I don't know about - only Ralph Friedgen, of the 1-10 (vs FBS) Maryland Terrapins survived the season...

He oughta' become a contestant on that "Biggest Loser" show. The interaction between he and the other contestants would be a ratings triumph!

Awesome.
Re: Mangino Out At Kansas
Mangino pretty much sealed his fate when he said that people who said he was harsh on his players were "bitter". There are lots of decent ways to handle this situation, like saying "I'm a perfectionist and I have a temper and I can't always control my temper. I'm working on it." Simply trashing the people complaining is maybe the worst possible choice.
Re: Mangino Out At Kansas
Good point; he really didn't seem to try to save his job. It certainly didn't help that he got so little defense from former players. Bobby Knight could grab and push guys and they still loved him. Mangino didn't get that second part down. Some of the stories told about him paint him as a total a-hole, using things shared in confidence against them. But at least he didn't eat anybody...

I heard he was in line to reprise William Conrad's role in a revival of the 'Cannon' TV series.
