Amid much rejoicing in Colts land. Young, pro-bowl caliber, and IIRC the only one who played just about every snap in the D backfield last year... the whole D solidified when he came aboard as a rookie.

But is he better than Tom Brady?

Seems like a lot of money.

Maybe, but it's cap friendly to the Colts. Heavily front loaded so the
big money is in an uncapped year (this year), and a year when who knows how much he
will see (2011). It'll be interesting to see how unhappy he is in 2012...

"It'll be interesting to see how unhappy he is in 2012..."

Yeah, that's the real question. Players have an uncanny ability to develop amnesia when these front-loaded deals drop off, especially if they live at the big-money lifestyle of the front-end years and don't plan ahead. Hopefully Bethea will be smart.

$18M in the first 2 years.
I couldn't spend 3 if I wanted to.

$3 million?

That barely gets you a house in Southern California.

Spending 3 million in a year would be a breeze. I know of a baseball player who blew $30 million in a month.

You'd find ways to spend it. Human ingenuity.

How did they get around the 30% "rule"? And how does this affect the thinking of other RFAs?

The usual: signing bonus, roster bonus, easily achieved incentives
