Chester Pitts Calls Roger Goodell A "Fraud"

During an interview with Brock & Salk on 710 ESPN Seattle, longtime NFLPA player representative Chester Pitts, most recently with the Seattle Seahawks, referred to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell as a "fraud".

Pitts' comments about Goodell were actually quite polite compared to his assessment of NFL Executive Vice-President and chief labor negotiator Jeff Pash, whom Pitts says is "a consistent turd".

Well, at least Pash is consistent.

It's believed that a lack of trust and personal relationships between individuals in positions of leadership in both the NFL and NFLPA has fueled the labor dispute. Between reports of Carolina Panthers owner and NFL Management Council Executive Committee co-chair Jerry Richardson speaking in a "condescending tone" to players during talks in February, and Pitts' comments today, this relationship shouldn't be expected to thaw anytime soon.

A spade is a spade.

The WSJ piece has not only exposed a liar, but a bad liar, which shows a guy who's over his head. Joe Posnanski's piece today came to the same conclusion.

There's something to be said about taking Negotiations 101. Obviously, both NFL and NFLPA missed that class. Too bad both will screw up a good thing.
