Martybawl Back in Town

Boy, people in San Diego really aren't happy with Marty Schottenheimer. After Sunday's loss to the Ravens -- which included a second half game plan put together before the invention of the forward pass -- Keenan McCardell admitted to being "a little ticked off" at the play calling. And GM A.J. Smith offered a less-than-ringing-endorsement of Schottenheimer when he said he didn't anticipate any coaching changes this season should the team continue to lose close games.

Bears Make Case as NFC's Best

The Bears beat the Seahawks convincingly on Sunday night, but what's up with all the Rex Grossman-is-Brett Favre references by the NBC crew? We get it, they both play quarterback and make risky decisions. Seriously though, a very impressive performance by the Bears -- especially the running game -- and I'm pretty sure their bandwagon will be taking on passengers this week.

Pats Missing Wilson, Hobbs for Cincinnati Game

The Patriots will have neither Eugene Wilson nor Ellis Hobbs available for duty against the Bengals on Sunday; both, along with RT Ryan O'Callaghan, are listed as Out. I think this would make the Cincinnati passing offense a much stronger play in fantasy this week, particularly T.J. Houshmandzadeh and even Chris Henry.

HS Back Gains Single-Game Record 658 Yards

Plus 10 touchdowns. That's 125 points in your high school fantasy football league. Um, at any point did his coach perhaps think, "hey, maybe it's a good time to give that freshman fourth-stringer a few carries?"

Seahawks Waive Kacyvenski, Sign Weeks

The Seahawks, today, waived former starting linebacker Isaiah Kacyvenski in order to promote running back Marquis Weeks off the practice squad. Kacyvenski, a Harvard graduate and special teams standout, would seem to fit in well on a certain team that used to collect these sort of guys like they were Pogs and has about twelve million dollars in cap room.

Show Him the Money

Yahoo! Sports' Jason Cole takes a look at which agents negotiated the best and worst deals for this year's first-round picks, but offers this disclaimer: "Readers should take this analysis with a grain of salt. Actually, an entire shaker would be helpful. Some agents are faced with greater obstacles than others, such as teams with rigid policies." NaCl-related issues aside, this is a pretty interesting read.
