As a special gift to readers, here's a free copy of our game chart from the Week 9 game that the Giants won 24-20 over the Patriots in Foxboro. Go ahead and download it, analyze it, and discuss it here while I'm busy putting together our full Super Bowl preview to run Friday morning. Please note this is "unedited," we haven't looked at whether these two charters have any particular biases that need adjusting or anything like that.

UPDATE: The original file unfortunately had some errors, in particular regarding the Giants' defensive formations. Those are now fixed for anyone who wants to download again.

Wow. Are the other games available to premium customers? (I'm a premium customer and haven't ever seen this, but never went looking)

If you look in the store, you'll see that once we put together all the charting data for each season we sell it in a package. It's not part of a premium subscription at this time.

Damn! Anything we could do to make it part of the Premium subscription please!?! For data analyzers who can code this really opens limitless possiblities.

I had a braingasm when I opened it.

One look at this has stopped me even thinking about doing game charting but given me more respect for those plucky folks that do it.

seriously, unless you're getting paid a good amount of money, why would anyone go through the pain!

For the record, I'm married, have a 4 year old daughter, 1.5 jobs and part of a very competitive madden online franchise league with my friends and I have charted most of the Giants games this year (including week 9). Its not as difficult as it looks and when you are assigned to the same team, you know the players really well, making the process a bit easier.

My wife often asks why I chart, still haven't come up with an answer that makes sense to her.
