MMQB: Palmer and Flynn

In this week's Monday Morning Quarterback, Peter gives his take on the impending and inevitable-seeming moves of Carson Palmer to Arizona and Matt Flynn to Oakland. He also tells us why he believes Darrelle Revis will be traded to Tampa and sends good thoughts in the direction of former FO staffer Will Carroll, who's recovering from a recent heart attack.

What is this madness!? I ... there's nothing I want to mock. It's April Fools, it makes perfect sense and yet no sense at all.

Best wishes to Will!!! Did not know that.

Funny comment about Hue Jackson getting the Raiders competitive ... he took over an 8-8 team and turned them into an 8-8 team ...

I'd be more interested to see what his predecessor Tom Cable would do with a second headcoaching opportunity. He went 4-8, 5-11, 8-8. Which doesn't sound great but when you're taking over a team that had 8 consecutive years of double-digit losses might be greater than it sounds.

Hue Jackson's Carson Palmer trade is the modern day equivalent of the Dan Devine John Hadl trade; both overpaid for a QB who is a shadow of what he once was.

Get well soon Will.

Had PK juxtaposed Gil Brandt's comment -

"The thing about the draft no one's found out how to measure yet -- and it's hard, and they're trying -- is a lot of college guys, when they make money, they stop working the way they worked before they got the money. The way this works, whatever you did last year to get good, you've got to do more now to stay good. And that's how a lot of players fall off. They don't learn that."

- with his comment about Andre Smith -

"I think the agents for Andre Smith are making it very clear to the Bengals, and to the rest of the league: The offer Cincinnati has on the table for Smith stinks (in the mind of agent and player), and the door is open for some team to come in and steal him."

- it would explain why teams haven't been waiting at the door for Smith.

When you compare Aaron Rogers' TD production to Bart Starr's without qualification, you deserve a kick in the nads - at least figuratively.

You're a moron.

by LionInAZ :: Tue, 04/02/2013 - 10:16pm

If Raiderjoe is a moron, you must be a Redskins or Browns fan. Which would be worse?

by Anonymouse (not verified) :: Wed, 04/03/2013 - 2:24pm

Which is worse? Being an awful poster or rooting for the raiders?

Oh yes: Both.

You haven't been around here long enough. He's the most entertaining poster in the history of this site and also has an amazing knowledge of football history when he chooses to show it. I've imagined Raider Joe being a Mensa member in his real life who just does this for fun.

Some of us don't find spelling mistakes entertaining.

by sundown (not verified) :: Thu, 04/04/2013 - 4:55pm

Hey, I tried to give you some backstory, but if you want to be a total jerk, good on ya.

Personally, I'll take spelling errors over name calling any day. Calling people morons for no reason doesn't make you cool. Just makes you sound like a jerk.

by LionInAZ :: Thu, 04/04/2013 - 6:04pm

And they're special jerks when they can't be bothered to register a user name and think they're clever by calling themselves bad variations on "anonymous".

by Anonymouse (not verified) :: Thu, 04/04/2013 - 6:10pm

That's a different fella, but some of us really don't give a shit about being a "registered user" or not and find his gimmick incredibly not funny. That's fine if you want to be a little fanboi about it, no sweat off my back. Personally I'd urge that kind of humor to stick to reddit or 4chan, not here. If you don't like me pointing it out, ignore it.

by sundown (not verified) :: Thu, 04/04/2013 - 7:09pm

Practice what you preach: If you would have just ignored Raider Joe's original post none of the unpleasantness occurs. If you want to call people morons, go someplace else. You create the problem, then want to blame everybody else for reacting to it? Yeah, that'll fly. I tried to cut you slack, but you become a bigger d-bag with every post.

by Anonymouse (not verified) :: Fri, 04/05/2013 - 1:28pm

Counter point, you used the term "d-bag."

by VIciousChickenOfBristol (not verified) :: Sun, 04/07/2013 - 10:33am

Why don't you two just get a room? You could cut the sexual tension with a knife.

by fb29 :: Mon, 04/08/2013 - 11:46am

Agreed, moron, put your RaiderJoe into the d-bag's mousse and lets all move on.
