Sean Lee Tears ACL, Done for Year

When I saw this news, I literally screamed "Oh, for crying out loud" at my computer, and I'm not even a Dallas fan. I just like good players when they get to actually play. So, who takes over? There are a couple of internal options: 2012 fourth-rounder Anthony Hitchens and 2013 sixth-rounder DeVonte Holloman. I figure they still need a veteran for depth. Dan Connor was in Dallas two years ago and is available. They could bring Ernie Sims back, but he's really an outside linebacker, not middle. I've seen Jonathan Vilma's name mentioned. Paris Lenon could surely play in a 4-3 but he's 37 years old. Please, do not mention Brian Urlacher. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

Will the Cowboys be busted for violating the no-contact rule for the OTA's ? Supposedly there is video of Martin hitting Lee which resulted in the injury.

Like all fine china, Lee should be kept under lock & key and only be taken out for weddings or other special occasions.

As to the none contact NFLPA thing, it looked like Lee was already well off balance before Martin contacted him. Possibly because his knee had already given out on him.

Hehehe... that's pretty funny. I do feel bad for him though, a really great player.

Got to feel terrible for Lee. At the same time, Jerry's cap strategy... well. It's Lee's third serious knee injury, but even if he loses his ability to play, his contract means there will be no cap savings for cutting him until 2017.

That being said, I wish Lee the best. Hopefully he can come back from this and be the player he was next year.

Who, me?

Even as a Redskins fan, this is sad news. Lee was a fun player to watch.

THis ought to be called the bob sanders curse. Bob sanders had the range and instincts to be an all time safety, but he was made of glass. I feel bad for lee, but he follows in the same vein. I remember Pff had him ranked as the top inside linebacker 2 years ago before getting hurt midseason.

Too bad. The guy was good.

Is there another linebacker as good as Lee in coverage in the NFL?

I'd say Lavonte David is for sure. Probably Willis too.

I was under the impression that Bowman was the better coverage LB on that team, not Willis. But I don't watch enough Niners to say that with strong confidence.

Jerod Mayo is pretty decent in coverage...

According to Pff, it was Willis this year, but Bowman last year. Willis has been so consistently excellent year after year so I deferred to willis.

In the 4ish 49er games I watched last year Bowman seemed like more of playmaker, while Willis was a steadier player always where he was supposed to be, but not making incredible plays like Bowman was.
