Tennessee Titans Unveil New Uniforms

The Tennessee Titans have unveiled new uniforms for the 2018 season.

The team's logo and color scheme (dark blue, light blue, and white) remain unchanged. They displayed jerseys and pants in all three colors at a ceremony on Thursday. The uniforms will also still have silver and red trim. The dark blue jerseys will be the standard for home games, with the light blues available twice a season, plus color rush games.

The biggest differences to the uniforms are the new helmets, which will be dark blue instead of white, and a silver, sword-shaped shoulder yoke that runs across each of the three jerseys.

Not sure I like those squared off numbers.

Will likely turn out to be as a big a mistake as those 3D-shadowing stuff the Pats and 49ers did in the mid-1990s.

The shoulder yokes and odd pants-jerseys-helmets mismatches meant I never liked the Titans set at all. They were never harmonious. These are slightly better, so it's an upgrade. But I would stop far short of saying they look good.

Man, I hated the old shoulder yokes. That change alone makes this an upgrade in my eyes.

The helmets look legitimately good -- a real upgrade, and one of the better helmets in the league now (though they could have really stood to modernize the Flaming Thumbtack).

The shoulder yokes look better on the road jerseys than the home jerseys, and I don't like the number font at all -- it's not quite Tampa Bay Alarm Clock bad, but it's not exactly GOOD, either.

Still, I think all in all, this is an improvement.

Also, as always, the color rush look is terrible, though the lighter blue jersey looks really good with non-matching pants.

Really thought the old Titans uniforms were about the only things that could rivals the Bucs for pure ugliness, and I don't think there's a question that these are better than the old ones in every way. Do I think they're great? No, but they're not utterly horrible, and that's a huge improvement.

Trying to think of a time in recent years when a team changed jerseys and they were actually better. They're almost invariably awful these days, so this is a nice change.

To Bryan's reply, I think the light blue ones look odd now with the dark blue helmet - as the only pant color that makes sense there is dark blue, and to me that has always been a bad thing with non-white jerseys.

To yours, I'd say Jacksonville and Seattle rivaled the Bucs for pure ugliness (Rams forced gold retention exempt, anyway), but that yes, that's a very good point - I think you have to go back to Buffalo getting rid of navy blue to find the last time a team redid its uniforms in a way that looked better than before.

It's hard to explain why the Titans' uniforms always looked so off to me, given that the color scheme and logo were fine... I really think it was just that shoulder yoke. It interrupted things. No matter what color it was, it didn't flow with the helmet.

Of course, now that it's silver/grey, I find myself wishing they had gone with that for the helmet instead of blue. Maybe silver pants too.

"I think you have to go back to Buffalo getting rid of navy blue to find the last time a team redid its uniforms in a way that looked better than before."

Even though Detroit's change in 2017 is by no means perfect (HATE the team name being on one of the sleeves), simply getting rid of the black highlights was a huge improvement over the 2003-2016 uniforms.

I also much prefer the current Vikings uniforms over the Brett Favre/Tarvaris Jackson era unis, with their complex mish-mash of gold highlights and white underarm flares.

I personally like Seattle's uniforms/logo (road more than home), but they really should get rid of neon green elements.

Otherwise, I mostly agree with you.

What was left to agree with? ;)

In principle I agree with the Lions removing black, but they used it in an inoffensive way. I'll still take the Barry Sanders Lions uniforms, but the 2016 ones with just the thin black lines were perfectly serviceable.

I found the Vikings, Falcons, and Cardinals newer sets to be far less offensive than Paul Lukas did, but I also think that these current Viking uniforms tried to dial it back but did so poorly... They should've just gone all the way back.

All three Florida teams made their uniforms markedly worse for no reason recently... at least the Dolphins were inoffensive. (Just not as good as before... so I am eager to see them go back.)

I'm still on record as thinking the Rams should add silver as edge accents only on their white horns with blue. I saw someone design one like that on those 3D-ish models for Uni Watch a long time ago and loved it. Great nod to the history but also still modern and more three dimensional.

It appears that the Jags are simplifying and improving their look (two-tone helmets? Gone. Simple all blacks and all whites, and even the all teal color rush look inoffensive). I like Khan, and think that, given time, he'll get most things right

To each his own, I guess... I really like the Seahawks uniforms specifically because of the neon green elements. Really looks good with the overall color scheme.

I really hated the leaked images, but the actual reveal looked much nicer. The 8 is probably the worst number in the font. It's still a bit weird to me, as is the new helmet, but they'll both grow on me. I already love the 3 in the font. It looks like a backwards sigma.

My favorite aspects are the new sword-like shoulder yokes. They're more subtle than the original yokes, and look nicer. I also love the new Columbia blues with navy lettering and numbering as opposed to the old white. I suspect the first jersey I'll get is a light blue Byard.

I didn't realize the original Titans unis were so hated. I loved the McNair-era combos, though they got much worse when they started mixing in monochrome schemes and powder blue.

Speaking of powder blue ... I just noticed those under-arm splotches on the dark blue and white jerseys. Ugh.

I didn't know about the uni hate either. I just thought their uniforms looked tacky, flaming thumbtack and all. I'm kinda of meh about the new ones. But there are plenty of other uniforms I think are far worse (Seattle color rush anyone).

The number font is horrible. I dont know why teams choose those ugly fonts; the steelers, bucs and some others also have ugly lettering.
And I guess they are the TitanS now?
Also dont like the shoulder triangle thing
.
Nope.

The old ones were meh, the new ones are meh.

Though the Titans players are "fired up" about them, according to the team's website.

I am waiting for the team bold enough to do their jersey numbers in Comic Sans.
