Here's the text of Michael David Smith's chat on BP.com, just in time for the start of the 2006 season. He hits on Deion Branch, Frank Gore, the next coaching innovation, and where to watch games in Chicago, among other issues. (Quick note from Aaron: Mike is wrong about the Patriots; they've given out huge money -- compared to the highest contracts at the position -- to two players, not just one. The other is Richard Seymour.)

The Georgia Bullddogs' dynamic duo should be on NFL rosters at some point in the next 72 hours. Which will be the better pro? That depends on what kind of running back you're looking for.

Question on what Eli Manning's numbers would be like if the offense didn't throw deep as much is interesting. I know you charted % of passes at different depths, how do Elisha's numbers stack up at each?
There's a piece in PFP06 about how the Giants are the anti-West Coast offense, or an East-Coast Offense, if you will.
The Giants had a 52.7% completion rate, which is astonishingly low, but they had a better yards per completion average, 12.8 ypc, than just about everyone. The only better team in yards/completion was Carolina. On the other hand, Carolina also had a very high completion percentage. Carolina isn't necessarily a vertical passing team, but it racks up huge yardage per completion because Steve Smith is a beast.
He hits on Deion Branch? Well, did he get past dinner? Invited...back to his place?
Seriously, it took me a minute to make sense of that phrasing.
Wow, it seems like MDS is still bitter over the 56 point whomping the Eagles put on the Lions in 1995.
I just read that NYT Magazine article on Mike Leach. Nice! Now I can't wait to watch Texas Tech the next time they are on TV.
Where is the link to the text of the chat? I can't find it anywhere; the headline simply links to the top of this page.
Not sure why that link isn't working. This one should.
