ESPN: Sneaky Strength for Every NFL Offense

Here's a bit of a preview of the Strategic Tendencies comments and some of the other stats you'll find in the upcoming Football Outsiders Almanac 2016. We've gone through and found one positive number for each offense in 2015. Some of these splits are significant for illuminating the strengths and weaknesses of each team's personnel. Other splits tend to oscillate wildly from year to year, and a great performance in 2015 may not indicate that a team will be equally strong in the same ways in 2016.

ESPN: Most Underrated Player on All 32 Teams

Here's a little ESPN feature where the FO staff went through and chose one underrated player from each of the 32 teams. Sometimes, an underrated player is a quality player who isn't well known. Other times, it means a player who most fans think is good but who is really great.

ESPN: What Andrew Luck Needs Most

Now that Andrew Luck is the highest-paid player in the NFL, what does he need most to get the Colts to a Super Bowl: a running game, an offensive line or a defense? The fact is all three parts will continue to struggle as long as Chuck Pagano and Ryan Grigson are running the show in Indianapolis.

ESPN: Worst WR/TE Depth Charts of the Last Decade

My latest feature for ESPN Insider looks at the weakest receiving depth charts of the last decade, based on how much experience and past production players had going into the season. Not all depth charts that look bad end up performing that way, but there's a reason teams go into the season trying not to look like this year's San Francisco 49ers. By the way, there's a ridiculous amount of Derek Hagan in this piece.

ESPN's NFL Front Office on Ryan Fitzpatrick

I'm proud to be part of ESPN Insider's "NFL Front Office" again this year. Our first discussion: are the Jets blowing it by not re-signing Ryan Fitzpatrick?

ESPN: 10 NFL Sophomores Primed to Break Out

Here's a look at 10 second-year players who are poised to have big breakout seasons in 2016. It's easy to pick some of these guys when you had three first-round picks who were injured for the entire 2015 season, but we also highlight some lesser-known players with promise such as Lorenzo Mauldin of the Jets and Eric Rowe of the Eagles. Plus, there are some charting stats in here!

ESPN: 10 Worst QB Depth Charts of the Last 10 Years

I had a lot of fun putting this one together... you think that teams like the 2016 Browns and 2016 Jets have historically bereft depth charts, but the fact is that three or four teams every year have dismal quarterback situations. Yet we forget them a couple of years later. Remember when Mike Shanahan thought Rex Grossman and John Beck were a good quarterback combo? Remember the Chiefs starting Brodie Croyle in Week 1? Remember J.T. O'Sullivan? Yikes.

ESPN: Early 2016 NFC Projections

We did our early AFC projections on Wednesday, now here are the early NFC projections. They look very familiar... but probably closer to 2014 than to 2015. We're expecting Green Bay and Dallas to rebound with better health. Carolina is likely to decline but still lead the NFC South. Out west, the two best teams in the NFL may see the race for the No. 1 seed decided by a federal court and a big suspension in the other conference.

ESPN: Early 2016 AFC Projections

Well, here we go. It's time to take off the wrapping and unveil our first run of 2016 NFL projections. This ESPN Insider article goes in-depth into the projections which were also featured last week in Todd McShay's "way too early" 2017 mock draft. I explain why Denver is likely to significantly decline, why the AFC North could put three teams in the playoffs again, and why the Colts may not be the obvious pick in the AFC South despite Andrew Luck's return. NFC projections will run on Thursday. There's some video too.
