Aaron Schatz on B.S. Report

Listen to me talk to Bill Simmons on this week's B.S. Report, and you can get a sneak preview of which team will be No. 1 in DVOA after this week's games. Plus I talk about a bunch of other stuff, like the Giants' killer upcoming schedule and the lack of balanced teams in 2011.

Gotta say, it's pretty weird to see the 49ers as the #1 team in DVOA. Or VOA. Or DAVE. Or FLOYD. Or really...anything.

Not if you are older than 30 (born in 1981, probably have good recollection of the 49ers dynasty). But then again, I'm not older than 30, so yeah, it is incredibly weird. I grew up in the age of the Greatest Show on Turf, so seeing the Rams pathetic and seeing the 49ers returning to glory is about as weird as it can be (I'm used to seeing the Rams pathetic after 2007-2009, but it is still fun how times change in the NFL). Other than the Lions (and they seem to be done with it now), every franchise has like an age of fans that remember them great, and an age that grew up with them as a bad team.

Well, okay. I'm older than 30, but it's still weird since the 49ers haven't been particularly relevant this century. That's a lot of ineptitude.

I was born in 1982. I remember commenting at the time around 2000 that the 49ers weren't good for the first time in my lifetime and how weird that was.

But at this point, any NFCW team being good is kind of weird. I'd be inclined to think it won't last.

I was saying in another thread that I'm having trouble adjusting to the 49ers winning. I was so tense during the Detroit game that I had to chug pepto to fight the stomach acid.

1994, I was nothing but happy watching my team.

I've lost the knack for watching games that matter.

Not surprising that GB isn't #1, DVOA will likely always under value their long TDs and dislike their Defense this year that gives up lots of yards but causes turnovers and does well in the Red Zone

GB isn't #1 in Sagarin's Pure Points either. The #1 DVOA team is also the #1 team in Sagarin's Pure Points.
