Great write up, and the comments over at the NYT aren't bad either.

"Gradkowski isn’t the answer to the Raiders’ prayers, but he may be the answer to Tim Tebow’s: one or two more wins, and the Raiders will be out of range to draft and destroy the Florida superstar."
I'd be shocked if Tebow is drafted in the top 5, let alone in the 1st round.
On another note, I always love this article.

Pet peeve, but surely you mean 'I'd be shocked if Tebow is drafted in the 1st round, let alone the top 5'.

"Waiting for Romo". Brilliant.
Phil Simms is a Cretin.
Re: NY Times: Week 12 Matchups
Giants should've read these reviews prior to their game. They sure didn't act like they knew how to stop the Broncos.
Re: NY Times: Week 12 Matchups
Hey, the most interceptions Mike Phipps ever had in a season was 20. Cutler could get there before December arrives.
Re: NY Times: Week 12 Matchups
"After starting the year with a series of last-second victories, the Bengals were due for Sunday’s last-second loss."
The Bengals didn't start the year with a last-second victory. They started the year with a last-second loss (the Stokley tip pass).
Re: NY Times: Week 12 Matchups
Great Saints teams of the past to compare to... there's always the 1987 Saints team, strike year or not, that went 12-3, winning their last 9.... they finished just behind the 13-2 Niners (with whom they split the season series). That was their first playoff appearance in history, too, and it got off to a great start against the Vikings, they recovered an early fumble and quickly cashed in for a touchdown with the game less than a minute old.
Re: NY Times: Week 12 Matchups
yeah but then lose game 44-10. gubo went down a little hard on Tom Benson that day
Re: NY Times: Week 12 Matchups
The Times won't let you write NFC East? Blech.
Re: NY Times: Week 12 Matchups
If that happens, the team should erect a Maurice Jones-Drew statue in front of the main entrance to Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, where no one will ever see it.

Re: NY Times: Week 12 Matchups
A shame the Jags don't play in your car - they'd have a sellout every week!

Only if I cover the back seats.
Re: NY Times: Week 12 Matchups
The "Waiting for Romo" from the Thursday games and "the post-Katrina 2006 upstarts, who were like Australopithecus to this year’s more evolved Homo habilis" were two of Mike's best moments this year. Especially "Waiting for Romo," which is in his hall of fame.
Re: NY Times: Week 12 Matchups
An early long return by Webb would force the Steelers to play from behind. The Chiefs and Bengals proved that the Steelers are a different team when trying to catch up.
Not to minimize the return problem, but the Steelers scored seventeen points before the half against KC, who had nothing but the kickoff return. catching up from that return was not the problem in Kansas City.
