Earlier this week on the NFL Network's Total Access show Rich Eisen asked Marshall Faulk (one of the most articulate commentators on a show that has a plethora of excellent ex players) his opinion on which of the Manning Brother's would advance the furthest in the playoffs. He selected Eli because the Giants played a day later.

BT, I am rooting for them to win. I would rather for us to win it all and it being shown that we were wrong about Coughlin (or, rather, that we were wrong about the team being able to win with him as coach) than for us to lose just so we can get rid of him.
I mean, why not us in the NFC if we get past the Eagles? The Seahawks are no great shakes this year and should be out already. The Bears have Rex. Yeah, the Saints pwned us, but are they unbeatable? I do not get that impression. And once you are in the big game, anything can happen.
Do I think all this will come to be? No. I think more likely we get stomped today. But it is possible, and today is likely the biggest hurdle until the Super Bowl, so why not pull for it?

by eagletom (not verified) :: Sun, 01/07/2007 - 2:07pm
I'd have to say, if you're a Saints, Bears, or Seahawks fan, then I'd want the Giants to win. They're a far easier opponent than my Eagles would be.
That said, my guess is that the Eagles will dominate this game, even accounting for homerism on my part.

RE #8
why not the Giants in the super bowl? There isnt a team in the NFC bracket that the Giants have a good chance of beating.
11
by Gerry (not verified) :: Sun, 01/07/2007 - 3:53pm
Well, Micah, I think there is not a team in the bracket that is not badly flawed and that the Giants should not beat if we play to our capabilities.
Our problem is that we usually play far, far below our capabilities.
12
by Gerry (not verified) :: Sun, 01/07/2007 - 3:58pm
I should have said in #10 except the Eagles. They are pretty solid right now, and in my estimation the favorites to emerge in the NFC.

Re #5 - well, probably the same thing that Giants fans would do to him if he were on the Giants, which is to excoriate him in the local media and yell "YOU SUCK, ROMO!" if you ever see him in public.
I never thought I'd say this about anyone playing in a Cowboys uniform, but I feel sorry for the guy. What a terrible way to lose a game. He was so obviously devastated afterwards.
That said, GO EAGLES!!!!!

Jet-Pats has been efficient, clinical football, and much better than yesterdays games.
I have now had my fill of efficient football, and would like to see missed XPs, botched kick-offs, blown coverages and other general hilarity. I confidently expect the Giants to deliver.

I made a deal with myself that if the Giants win, I'll buy myself a Kiwanuka jersey.
So I'm kind of rooting against the Giants because I don't want that and I don't like Coughlin Go Giants!

PhillyCWC, no doubt he would get eaten up in NY after that. However, I contend that Philly is even tougher in that regard.

I only have the mildest sympathy for Romo because he lost twice to the Eagles this year, so I don't have to hate him personally. That said, nobody made him wear that stupid star, so screw him.

Hello, Good Giants Defense. Welcome back. Where've you been?
45
by Pat on the back (not verified) :: Sun, 01/07/2007 - 6:56pm
I think the ball was slow enough and the coverage was close enough that he didn't really have a choice. Remember, it is a live ball, so the giants get possession if they land on it. It isn't like a punt that gets downed.
46
by John (not verified) :: Sun, 01/07/2007 - 6:57pm

51
by RMoses (not verified) :: Sun, 01/07/2007 - 6:59pm
Typical first series for Iggles on both sides of the ball. Mahe has been incredibly ineffective this year. Bring back Hood to return kickoffs.
52
by Ruben (not verified) :: Sun, 01/07/2007 - 7:00pm
#45: Fair enough. However, Buck was about to call it out of bounds, and it sure looked like it was on its way. Maybe a bit easy to judge at the commercial break, but it doesn't look great, combined with other ST gaffes...gunners overshooting, the crappy coverage documented on this here site, etc.
Again, just wondering why Harbaugh's considered so "good" when his teams seem relatively limited.

58
by Pat on the back (not verified) :: Sun, 01/07/2007 - 7:03pm
#52, I agree it was a bonehead move. I just think that from the overhead/coverage cam, the coverage was closer than I initially thought from the original angle. They were on top of him pretty quickly after he got it, and the ball had slowed a bit. I don't think it was as bad as Buck seemed to think it was, considering a slow roll or weird turn gives the giants the ball on the 10.
59
by Ruben (not verified) :: Sun, 01/07/2007 - 7:04pm
The Petitgout (sp?) comments were awesome. As an Eagles fan, I wish he were in the lineup...the D could use the yardage.
60
by dmac (not verified) :: Sun, 01/07/2007 - 7:04pm
Man, if the Giants' weren't false starting every other play here, the Eagles could be in a big hole already. And it is already 7-0.
61
by JasonK (not verified) :: Sun, 01/07/2007 - 7:05pm
#57:
I don't know if it's inaccuracy. Eli seems to be expecting his receivers to make different breaks than they are. Seems like miscommunication or misreading the defense to me.
62
by ToxikFetus (not verified) :: Sun, 01/07/2007 - 7:05pm
Could Reno have stepped out of bounds and then stretched back and touched the ball? Would that get the "kickoff out of bounds" penalty since Reno was touching the sideline?
63
by dmac (not verified) :: Sun, 01/07/2007 - 7:06pm
#62: I'm pretty sure I've seen that happen before and be called out of bounds.
64
by Pat on the back (not verified) :: Sun, 01/07/2007 - 7:06pm
Seriously, after the 2nd half collapse, I am entirely convinced that the Giants will somehow make it to the NFC championship game. This season has just been that weird. 4th & 2.
65
by Pat on the back (not verified) :: Sun, 01/07/2007 - 7:08pm

by RMoses (not verified) :: Sun, 01/07/2007 - 7:13pm
What are the odds that the Iggles don't get a first down this quarter?
Wes Welker made a heads up play by stepping out of bounds while fielding a kickoff, giving the Dolphins the ball at the 20, instead of the 4.
I could have sworn it counted as a kickoff OOB penalty, but maybe it goes to the 20?
76

jasonk, would you say it's just coaches starting to pick them straight away, or is it just the players? it's seemed like the Eagles have been able to adjust to them when they've played before, I just wondered if that's something that's happened against other teams as well?

I still think it would be great if the NFL adopted Rugby's sin bin. Make Runyan stand behind the goal-posts for 10-minutes of the clock, eagles playing with only 10 men on the field. I think that would be really interesting, having to scheme football plays with a man down. Bring back the XFL and institute that.

"Why didn’t the Giants pound it three times with Brandon Jacobs?"
I do not know. Probably because one time this year, another team stopped us and therefore it is never to be attempted again.
The only things that get repeated after not working are Tiki runs, and Shockey or Plaxico passes.
That whole Giants goal line routine was so depressing. I told my wife it would go incomplete pass, stuffed run, incomplete pass, followed by a FG, followed by an Eagles score and us going into halftime down. It was one of the easiest predictions I have ever made. It is what we do.
We can still win this game, but I honestly can say at this point I think we would have a better chance if we put in Lorenzen for a series or six.

It's obviously Giants' ball, but I wonder which would be the bigger back-breaker here: Eagles' ball on the 1 or a sack/fumble for a TD?
I can only hope the Giants receivers channel the spirit of Terry Glenn here.

by jonnyblazin (not verified) :: Sun, 01/07/2007 - 8:47pm
its not stupid at all, once the kicking team touches the ball, the recieving team should try and pick it up and run with it. Its a smart play because if you fumble it without gaining possession, nothing bad happens.
278
by tim (not verified) :: Sun, 01/07/2007 - 8:48pm
if the ball is touched by the punting team, the ball is fair game for the receiving team with no possibility of a turnover, so mcquarters is fine on that one

OK, for those calling the play dumb, here's why it was the smartest thing to do:
When the kick team touches the ball, it's an illegal touching penalty. The penalty results in the return team being given the ball at the spot.
Which means that, after an illegal touching, the return team can pick up the ball and run with it. Even if they fumble it, they can take the penalty and get the ball at the spot anyway.
McQuarters had absolutely nothing to lose by taking that chance. If he did nothing, they get the ball inside the 2. If he grabs it and fumbles, they get the ball inside the 2. If he gets any yards at all, they get the ball where he goes down.
Not a stupid play at all. Just someone who actually knew the rules, and better than the linesman on the spot, actually.

I have to say, the Gianst uniforms look like the Pats' old pants with practice jerseys for tops. Very strange.
The question is not whether Saquon Barkley is the best running back in this draft class. The question is whether any running back, even one as good as Barkley, warrants a top-five draft selection in the NFL in 2018.
Comments
Earlier this week on the NFL Network's Total Access show Rich Eisen asked Marshall Faulk (one of the most articulate commentators on a show that has a plethora of excellent ex players) his opinion on which of the Manning Brother's would advance the furthest in the playoffs. He selected Eli because the Giants played a day later.
Wanker, et al-- good luck.
E-A-G-L-E-S!
EAGLES!
After DAL-SEA, anything can happen. Let's go, GIANTS!
If Romo was on the Eagles, and that was the way this game ended, what would Eagles fans do to him going forward?
Giants fan here -
Do I root for them to win, or do I root for them to lose so Coughlin gets fired?
Eagles, 19.9 off dvoa, -6.2 def dvoa, garcia 19.6 dvoa @home
vs.
Giants 8.7 off dvoa, -1.7 def dvoa, eli -1.1 dvoa
analysis- Garcia and Philly dictate to the Gmen all afternoon whilest Eli and the boys struggle for consistent offense. Eli hooks up for a couple of big plays but they come in spurts while Philly plays consistent for 4qtrs
Philly 27
Giants 14
I'd have to say, if you're a Saints, Bears, or Seahawks fan, then I'd want the Giants to win. They're a far easier opponent than my Eagles would be.
That said, my guess is that the Eagles will dominate this game, even accounting for homerism on my part.
RE #8
why not the Giants in the super bowl? There isnt a team in the NFC bracket that the Giants have a good chance of beating.
Well, Micah, I think there is not a team in the bracket that is not badly flawed and that the Giants should not beat if we play to our capabilities.
Our problem is that we usually play far, far below our capabilities.
I should have said in #10 except the Eagles. They are pretty solid right now, and in my estimation the favorites to emerge in the NFC.
Pre-game Giants Will Win comment here.
So how many games does Garcia have to win for it to be an "open competition" during the off-season?
PhillyCWC, no doubt he would get eaten up in NY after that. However, I contend that Philly is even tougher in that regard.
And I am with you. I actually feel sorry for a Cowboy. Strange sensation, that.
This will be a tough game for me. My Saints fandom is hoping for a Giants win, but my contempt of Giant fans want a Philly blowout.
I like the diet pepsi ad, even though it doesn't inform me as to whose country this is. The Jake Delhomme clip reminds me of Suicidal Tendencies' Institutionalized, and anything that does that is fun.
I only have the mildest sympathy for Romo because he lost twice to the Eagles this year, so I don't have to hate him personally. That said, nobody made him wear that stupid star, so screw him.
19: You prefer Giants fans over the people who threw snowballs at Santa?
20: NICE ST reference!
I just said this game needed some Soundgarden before the break, and, lo and behold, Fox gives me some Soundgarden!
On the FIRST PLAY, the FIRST PLAY, Giants False Start.
Offsides on the Kickoff, False Start on the first snap. This figures to be outstanding.
Wow, Plaxico bails Eli out. what a catch.
[screaming]A FREAKING HOLD CALLED BACK A FIRST DOWN BY TIKI![/screaming]
The Giants require that their offensive lineman all have Wonderlic scores below 10.
This game is going to take about three days at this rate.
20: I also want the Eagles to win to feel vindicated for saying all year that the Eagles were the best team in the NFC East.
The NFL didn't learn and lets Peter Morelli referee in the playoffs again? :x
J-Load sneak again!
Plaxico Burress touchdown.
Hello, Good Eli. Glad to see you back. Where've you been?
Oh my. Does someone want to phone the Eagles and let their defense know the game has started?
You're complaining about Pete Morrelli? I saw Phil Luckett doing a game earlier, I couldn't believe my eyes!
Well, that couldn't have gone any fucking worse.
#33
Good, bad... I'm the one with the ball.
#35: Seriously? Every time I so much as hear that guy's name I feel a bout of heartburn. I can't believe he's still around.
mahe owns
God I hope that Coughlin is smart enough to do a Lorenzen pass on third and short at some point, now that he has set it up with a few sneaks.
Although watching the pile move the pile is sweeeeet.
Oops, it was Jeff Triplette not Phil Luckett. That's almost just as bad. I thought he was going to blow the Indy-KC game somehow.
on the giants td, i couldn't tell if the eagles were in a cover 3 with dawk in a hook zone for the TE, or if it was off-man 0, anybody know?
WTF is up with that return? For as much crazygonuts credit that Harbaugh gets, I've seen a bunch of completely boneheaded moves by the Eagles on ST this season...case in point just now...
Hello, Good Giants Defense. Welcome back. Where've you been?
I think the ball was slow enough and the coverage was close enough that he didn't really have a choice. Remember, it is a live ball, so the giants get possession if they land on it. It isn't like a punt that gets downed.
Re: 42 I don't think the eagles themselves knew. Definitely looked like someone blew their assignment. No less that two eagles actively ran AWAY from Plaxico.
As Buck & Aikman laud the Eagles O-line, Garcia is sacked.
Better tell the offense we've started as well.
#47: Why?
Who names their kid Dirk?
Re 43:
There's only so much a coach can do when Reno Mahe is predominantly involved in the game plan.
Typical first series for Iggles on both sides of the ball. Mahe has been incredibly ineffective this year. Bring back Hood to return kickoffs.
Hey Trot, how do you overrun a guy on his knees?
Well, so far it's NYG vs. NYG offensive line. False start #3.
False start on first down, false start on second down. Coughlin really needs to go.
49: um, Mr and Mrs Diggler?
After a strangely accurate first series, Eli seems to have calmed down and resumed normal service.
The Petitgout (sp?) comments were awesome. As an Eagles fan, I wish he were in the lineup...the D could use the yardage.
Man, if the Giants' weren't false starting every other play here, the Eagles could be in a big hole already. And it is already 7-0.
#57:
I don't know if it's inaccuracy. Eli seems to be expecting his receivers to make different breaks than they are. Seems like miscommunication or misreading the defense to me.
Could Reno have stepped out of bounds and then stretched back and touched the ball? Would that get the "kickoff out of bounds" penalty since Reno was touching the sideline?
#62: I'm pretty sure I've seen that happen before and be called out of bounds.
Seriously, after the 2nd half collapse, I am entirely convinced that the Giants will somehow make it to the NFC championship game. This season has just been that weird. 4th & 2.
62/63,
No "out of bounds" penalty, just a return o-o-b. Ball at the 11.
#64: As can I, actually. But I'm a Giants fan, so I shouldn't count.
Didn't Kearse look like Abdul-Jabbar as he towered over Super 5?
Giants O-Line looked really good that 1st drive, then false started. Eli looks pretty bad.
Eagles dropping balls, Garcia doesn't look that good either.
I love how Joe Buck just makes things up. Where's the "shove" at the end of that long pass attempt to Burress?
Yeah, Eli sucks. Giants O-Line beastly minus the false starting.
I love everything about Joe Buck. He is so dreamy.
I feel dirty even writing that sarcastically.
The Giants should put in Feagles as QB. He leads the receivers better with his foot than Eli does with his hands.
What are the odds that the Iggles don't get a first down this quarter?
I also thought Plax shoved Dawkins, but the reverse angle showed he was just bracing himself for the fall.
#65: From a blog entry from a Dolphins game this year:
Wes Welker made a heads up play by stepping out of bounds while fielding a kickoff, giving the Dolphins the ball at the 20, instead of the 4.
I could have sworn it counted as a kickoff OOB penalty, but maybe it goes to the 20?
This looks like IND-KC redux. Hopefully the Eagles don't wait until the 3rd quarter for their first 1st down.
Are the Eagles in negative total yardage still?
No offense McNabb, but there is nothing more annoying than being coached by a teammate.
Hmm. that's just weird. Maybe he had his foot out of bounds in the endzone? Although if the ball is at the 4, that means he would be 12 feet tall...
The Eagles are playing like they want to get blown out today.
Looks like the "Resting the Starters Curse" has bitten the Iggles O
I also love neck-beards.
Giants need to put up more points before the Eagles get untracked.
And where are the commercials? I can't even remember whose country this is.
This looks like IND-KC redux. Hopefully the Eagles don’t wait until the 3rd quarter for their first 1st down.
QFT. Dropped passes, bad QBing (well, Green didn't play that horribly, but Garcia is), O-Line not making holes.
Then again, Eli Manning isn't Peyton Manning.
Hey, a Dhani Jones sighting. This is a weird game.
Wow! A rare play by that bow tie guy!
The Giants have had awsome field position this quarter, and have done nothing with it.
#82 & 83:
Apparantly, Donovan McNabb got hosed.
If the Eagles' offense doesn't move the ball a little here it's going to be 14- or 10-0 soon. The Giants can't keep getting great field position and blowing it every time, can they?
1:30 and an Iggles first down.
Troy Aikman always tell me that a team should feel pretty good about losing.
#89:
I refer you to Giants vs. Seahawks, 2005 Edition.
Aikman--Westbrook is not underappreciated by FF guys.
Joe Buck breaking out the analogies! I feel like I'm back in high school, taking the SAT again. (Just like high school, too: The Eagles are losing.)
Scrambling is not what Garcia does best. Dating Playboy Playmates is what Garcia does best.
Is that Chad Pennington's right arm on Jeff Garcia?
Joe buck: This is what Garcia does best, using his legs.
Is that a comment about the strength of his running or the weakness of his passing?
Style tips from Buck & Aikman. An unexpected suprise.
Re 83:
I'm not sure why, but that comment made me laugh so hard I had to visit the bathroom.
Joe Buck is making me remember how much I hate Joe Buck.
WOW! What a run by Westbrook!
This is Brian Westbrook's country.
Oh, what a play by Westbrook.
OH. MY. GOD. Westbrook is simply not human.
Westbrook Wow Touchdown
WTF BRIAN WESTBROOK... THAT WAS DISGUSTING.
Good job O-Line and blocking, but westbrook was amazing on that play.
Westbrook may be good... but that was some really lousy tackling by the Giants.
Another patented Will Demps whiff. Wow, that was a bad acquisition by the Giants.
Westbrook... No Pro Bowl selection... Scandalous!
UK TV just did a great job with the replay, showing Jamal Jackson pulling right and making a key block.
you know, the eagles receivers really are very good at blocking. course, Westbrook's not bad either...
Pretty nice blocking by the wideouts/LJ Smith downfield, too. But a heap of bad tackling helped a bunch, too.
Eli Manning sucks.
I'm willing to bet we see a lot more bad tackling, before the game is over, too. from both sides...
Elisha being Elisha!!
Ahhh, the post-season debut of the Manning face!
#113: You suck.
eli picked off! now that's the game I wanted to see!
So who was that imposter playing QB for the Giants on their first drive?
I tried not to be defeatist, but the last several drives, the Eagles TD, and that pick were all things I fully expected once we had our second penalty on the first drive. Even though we got the touchdown, I knew the dumb Giants had shown up.
As usual.
More Brian Westbrook. Eagles O-Line getting good, but Brian Westbrook is just making tacklers miss.
Mornigweg is getting creative! I like it!
And the first drive was not Eli Manning's doing, it was Plax being amazing.
This is so par for the course for the Giants offense. 1 good opening drive, then shoot yourself in the foot repeatedly for 2 quarters.
Like the change of pace with Buckhalter here. First and goal!
good grief, this game has changed around quick...
Ummm.. Eagles need to give to Brian Westbrook more?
Free Nick Cole!
Re UK TV. Nick Halling is still a buffoon. Sky's answer to John Prescott.
Wait, did I hear correctly? Did the Eagles resign Koy Detmer just so he could hold kicks?
Crap, but an incompletion is better than a pick. If it's any consolation, Gerry, Eagles fans aren't feeling terrible confident either.
3 plays to the short side of the field. Good grief!! Strike my #122 comment.
Yeah, terrible playcalling at the end there, I thought. You have buckhalter and westbrook. Pound it.
130, yes, that's true.
jasonk, would you say it's just coaches starting to pick them straight away, or is it just the players? it's seemed like the Eagles have been able to adjust to them when they've played before, I just wondered if that's something that's happened against other teams as well?
garcia's passing skills are looking shit-tastic so far. he has awful pocket presence, also.
Going up against Elisha Manning, that was 4 down territory. Who doesn't think Elisha's gonna do something, well, Eli-like?
Come on, Philly, put eight guys in the box. Make Eli beat you.
how many brain cells can shockey spare?
Shockey just wanted an excuse to show off his hair.
#139: 4.
fair play, that Jeremy Shockey isn't scared of much, is he?
Giants blocking is solid, but the Eagles can shed blocks and tackle Tiki Barber.
And Eli made a good throw to Shockey for once.
sheldon brown injured. crap crap.
Did Joe Buck say, "He is a cutie" about Shockey?
Insert joke about how big Shockey's head is HERE
Why do I have a terrible feeling that Shockey is going to win the game for them?
Tiki Barber responds to Westbrook.
Why do I have a terrible feeling that Shockey is going to win the game for them?
Tiki Barber responds to Westbrook.
Tiki doing a Westbrook impression.
Good job finding the seam Tiki. Good job sealing the hole Giants.
Maybe this is Tiki's country too.
Brian Dawkins whiff!!
rare missed tackle by dawkins. as an eagles fan, i can say you don't see that very often.
oh god, not the Joselio Hanson Show...
The NFL is a copy cat league with bad tackling becoming an epidemic!
seems like it was a bad angle taken by dawkins mostly, not as much a whiff once he got there.
#153:
Yeah, but it's not as if the Giants have the talent at WR to take advantage of it. As long as Plax is doubled, I'm not betting on Tyree, Carter, or Moss to make any plays.
136
Yeah Garcia looks really uncomfortable out there, and not very good at all. Should finally put the rest of that non-controversy to rest.
I don't know if I should continue to play The Manning Face Drinking Game.
I like Troy Aikman. He is correct here.
Two bad 4th down decisions with goal to go. Need to go for it both times.
Eli could've run that one in. He had a huge hole in front of him, but he decided the throw into double-coverage instead.
Thank you Sheldon!!
Note to all NFL head coaches,
when it's 3rd and goal from the 3rd yard line, just run the ball. Please.
It is too bad Shockey broke that up. Eli's pass to Brown was right on target.
#158: Absolutely you should! It's like the "Drink-Every-Time-Brett-Favre-Is-Mentioned" game.
eli throws the fade to plaxico. batted down by my boy sheldon. eh niiiiiiice.
re: 156. Yeah, I guess that's a significant difference in the Giants' passing game from the last time this scenario happened for them. And to be fair to him, Hanson's been playing a lot better recently...
Why didn't the Giants pound it three times with Brandon Jacobs? The Eagles have a pretty bad run defense, especially compared to the advantage the Eagles DBs have versus the Giants WRs.
Ah, and Sheldon seems to be ok, too. good good.

Looks like the Iggles are setting up Reggie Brown to give a double move.
Good job Garcia. Not great, but nice job finding the open receiver, even if it's too late.

#173: That's a funny way to spell "alive".
For how tense this game is, it's at least an improvement over last year's Panthers-Giants game...
Runyan went down like a Redwood there.
Coefield is soooooooo stupid.
Nice 2 for 1 cheapshot deal by Runyan.
That was a hilarious fight. Jon Runyan was a one-man personal foul machine there and he didn't even cost the Eagles any yardage.
Offsetting penalties is a bit harsh. Runyan had two goes, to the Eagles one.
Philly still looks flat.
Haven't seen Runyan do that in about 4 or 5 years. He is into this game even without Strahan for motivation.
Jon Runyun. Further proof that anyone who chooses to wear the number 69 is presumptively a douchebage.
runyan totally deserves 2 minutes in the penalty box
really good play by Garcia there; saw something deep get taken away and just kept it alive long enough to get the ball to a checkdown guy.
Oh, and can I also add that I love John Runyan. I shouldn't, but I do.
All of America is tired of watching Coughlin freak out on the sideline. Glad the officials got the memo.
Jeff Garcia, spunks a Time Out 2 seconds before the two-minute warning. Nice.
why do you call a timeout there?
I was wondering when a squandered time out would be burned by the Iggles.
183:
isn't football great. in other sports they actually punish the whole TEAM when a player completely loses his head. in the NFL? no power play or yellow card or ejection. shit, the eagles didn't even lose yardage or a down. ;)
I like Garcia taking the TO before the two minute warning there.
By the way, since when is cash slower than a credit card? Didn't it used to be the case that people that paid for something under $10 with a credit card where the assholes, not the other way around? Freakin' Starbucks...
that'd certainly be interesting. It would give co-ordinators nightmares, too. can you imagine having to plan set 10-on-11 plays for those situations?
Funny that Reid was upset with that time out. He is the master of wasted time outs.
Reid was upset that Garcia wasted the team out because that is one fewer time-outs he gets to waste himself. Duh!
I think that 10 min might be too long, maybe 2 min of game time or something like that.
#197:
True, but I'd still much rather hear the "cartoon factory music" than certain other options during commercial breaks.
11 on 10 for brief periods would be off the heezy fo sheezy!
What about the mass-ejection games? Imagine the awesomeness of 6-on-5 football.
197: Cash has been, and still is, faster than credit cards. Mastercard is trying to get us to use credit cards more so they can get more fees from merchants.
Does either team really want to win this game?
This is Colts-KC, part three.
Jeff Garcia: a true nancyboy.
Nevermind. Stallworth wants to win this game.
Touche, Jason K, Touche.
On that note, I think it would be great if VW or Kia came out with a commercial with a theme-song that kept repeating "This is our Municipality..."
I hated Garcia's 3rd down completion, that was not a good throw. Great job by the Eagles blitz pickup and Garcia on that TD though.
or one guy just standing there on defence after a mass brawl, waiting for the whole o-line to come flatten him...
207,
he's not a nancyboy, he's just "docile"
Mc1/4ths sucks.
Garcia: AAAAH Yu0 teh wins!!!1
Stallworth: Just don't kiss my helmet bro.
Those were two great passes on that drive. Even some arm strength on the TD to Stallworth. Did he order arm enhancement pills from MyCanadianPharmacyandSpamMachine.com?
Or did he just bring them back from his CFL days?
New York is down 17-10 at the half. This seems vaguely familiar.
stallworth catches nice 29-yd pass from garcia. stallworth just torched son of quarters on that one.
R.W McQuarters. Perfect with marmalade.
Where are the naysayers that said the Iggles drop too many passes? Two great catches this scoring series!! Fly Eagles Fly!!!
What was the crowd singing after the touchdown?
209,
but that wouldn't be a shameless sellout of patriotism to sell trucks that are wrapped in the flag.
What are the odds an Eli interception here?
They're singing Fly Eagles Fly. a rather quaint but very popular fight song from philly...
Elisha. Here we come!
220,
Well, this is a family site, so I can't repeat it here.
Hey Joe Buck "highlights from around the league" only 1 other game today.
Dear lord, I'm having flashbacks to college. I hate that damn chant!
Fly Eagles Fly is not nearly as lame as the Super Chargers or the Miami Dolphins #1.
I love the usual brilliance of Philly clock management. This is almost as much fun as watching Rivers try to run the 2 minute drill against Seattle.
Chargers fan. Eagles fan. Two all great choke franchises.
226,
The Joe Buck Robot Autotext is still in the week 17 setting.
That was downright Mahe-esqe.
When did Garcia die? How can you be resurrected when you're still alive?
I don't actually think they have clocks in Philadelphia.
If you're just going to run out the clock, why not just kneel it?
NASCAR in space!
Philly's 2nd half defensive DVOA is -9.9%
NYG's 2nd half offensive DVOA is 11.7%
It looks like it'll stay close.
So the Giants can't do an inside run down near the goal line, but they can do it twice in midfield with about a minute left in the first half. Seems logical to me.
I'm seeing a 'close, but Philly has the edge' game like last time, but then that might just be wishful thinking.
"I’m seeing a ‘close, but Philly has the edge’ game like last time, but then that might just be wishful thinking. "
Or it might be that 7 point lead you have right now.
I say Philly wins 19-12.
well, that too, but I wouldn't be too surprised if it stayed close like last time, until the traditional Giants meltdown happens with about 7 minutes left in the 4th.
I am just hoping that this competitive game stays that way and does not go the way the NE/NYJ game went.
Hey nfl.com "worst commercial ever".
I'm just hoping the game doesn't end like last night's. I don't think my heart can take it, no matter who wins.
I really hate that Fox robot.
It is a good game, isn't it? just the right combination of big offensive and defensive plays to make things interesting...
garcia just has awful vision.
That Gerbil Wilson is having a good game...
Garcia is throwing some ugly looking balls tonight. He'll be lucky if he gets out of this one without a pick.
hmm... If Hank Baskett was wide open and Garcia threw it to him, and a defender tipped the ball, maybe Baskett wasn't wide open then, right?
246: Joe Buck?
McQuarters!
oh, basket was open. a few seconds before Garcia threw the ball...
son of quarters is just a trainwreck.
No, the one that hops up and down, jogs in place, points to the crowd when they come back from commercial. I hope he tears his ACL one of these days. Who at Fox was saying, "You know what we don't have enough of it football? Shit-talking robots. What do robots in shoulder pads have to do with football?
Hey I just saw a chevy ad. I love the soundtrack. Has anyone else seen it?
251: he was talking about during the crossing pattern, not when he stopped at the sideline
Ah, there it is. Just like herpes or a crazy girlfriend, that commercial always comes back.
Elisha. I warned you. Here we come. Signed Jim Johnson
i believe the track used in that UPS commercial is by the group "The Postal Service." hmmm...
New NFLN commercial: "This is ouuur 3/5ths of the country"
Hey! A basket catch!
Okay, I'm drunk...
What # did Williams wear for the Broncos?
MCQUARTERS!!
Nobody knows that commercial? Damn. I hope they play it again so I can hear that song.
Okay, that was the dumbest special teams play I hae ever seen, even if it is still Giants ball.
son of quarters nearly pulls off the stupidest play since... ok, since yesterday. but still, it was very stupid.
"illegally touched" What was illegal? They downed the ball, right?
This is...
What in God's name was McQuarters trying to accomplish there?
Is there ANYONE still willing to try and tell me any other NFL team is dumber than the Giants?
..as if on cue. Thanks Chevy. Got it now.
good god! why is McQuarters on an NFL team?
rancher fixing fence. john cougar concentration camp song. drink!
The Raiders?
It's obviously Giants' ball, but I wonder which would be the bigger back-breaker here: Eagles' ball on the 1 or a sack/fumble for a TD?
I can only hope the Giants receivers channel the spirit of Terry Glenn here.
Okay. Here begins the Iggles mandatory offensive lull letting the Jints get momentum and probably score on a jump ball from Elisha to Plax.
its not stupid at all, once the kicking team touches the ball, the recieving team should try and pick it up and run with it. Its a smart play because if you fumble it without gaining possession, nothing bad happens.
if the ball is touched by the punting team, the ball is fair game for the receiving team with no possibility of a turnover, so mcquarters is fine on that one
Instead of a Special Teams FUBAR , we get an officiating cock-up. It's not a bad consolation prize.
Another question: why does a robot need to warm up? Is he afraid he is going to pull a muscle? Come 'on!
shockey grabs coughlin's headset like he's someone's confused senile grandfather.
"shockey grabs coughlin’s headset like he’s someone’s confused senile grandfather"
That might be the best description of Tom Coughlin I've ever heard.
wait. is army of darkness on?
I think I'd rather be reminded of whose country it is than see the Old Spice ad again. By the way, what the heck is he wearing under his white shirt with about 5 too many buttons open? It looks like a tight 1970s style dance shirt.
That Old Spice commercial almost makes up for that stupid TD-nullifying ST penalty. Almost.
now THAT is a great commercial.
280: Same reason your car needs to warm up. Otherwise the oil will be to thick, and the engine will seize.
I played special teams back in my day, i never understood how you can block somebody in the back on a return. If someone goes by you, just turnaround more people are running at you, hit them instead.
Hmm, fair enough. I'd completely forgotten that it wasn't a live ball in that situation. That play by McQuarters wasn't so dumb after all.
My name is Reggie Brown. And I catch passes.
Carlos Emmons is D-U-N, Done. I thought the Giants had made a good move playing Blackburn in his place for a good portion of the first half. Now he's back on the field watching Westbrook run right by him.
i fully cop to not knowing the punt rule... damn you son of quarters!
These refs are terrible.
I should watch 24...everyone I knows loves it...
Runyon should have been thrown out of the game earlier and they can't even figure out an illegal touch during a punt.
Love that Detmer. Great job placing that high snap.
If Earl has got your girl's tongue it's because you own the oldest stereo system in the 21st century.
Look at that! The kicker's wife gettin' some love.
I have to say, the Gianst uniforms look like the Pats' old pants with practice jerseys for tops. Very strange.
